Took it to the stealership today. They just called me and said that they have confirmed the problem exists and opened a case with Toyota. Toyota is sending a tech out next Thursday to look at it. I'll let everyone know what I hear back when that happens.

Called dealer this morning on the squeak. Service advisor at this particular dealership said it is a known issue (the squeaking rear end) and factory parts must be ordered & replaced under warranty. This is a change from the previous dealership service rep who said it is from off-roading and needed to be cleaned along with added penetrating grease (this solution worked for all of about 3 hours IIRC). I will be taking the truck in Tuesday next week and will report back on findings. Also I will be reporting the adhesive that appears to be separating under the hood too.

I'm going to be sending the video I took (just updated it) to a GM I know at my dealership. They've helped me get about 10 other issues mostly taken care of (trans fluid, window seal, hood scoop and flare coming off, etc). Just need my dang seat to stop rocking back and forth and now to take care of this squeak. Might just drop in since it's in town for the heck of it.

Sometimes I get a bit on the fence about keeping this truck, my Tundra ('09 5.7L) that I had for 6 years was purchased at the dealership and traded in for my Tacoma. I think that was the only two times it was there , never a single issue with that thing. But I've already dumped 5K in worth of mods, so I'd really rather keep it around for a while.

Perhaps I could get some kind of extended warranty for when the trans blows up or something, but this squeaking thing drives you nuts if you drive with the windows down a lot.

Thanks for keeping us updated J-Rock. I may have to reference this thread later, though I hope I don't.

My '14 leafs squeek, not as loudly as in some of the videos but it's there. Started about 30k miles. It's annoying enough that I don't drive with the windows down sometimes. I keep meaning to do the bicycle tire tube mod to the leafs but as I don't have a place to wrench on the truck it's been getting pushed off.

Washing and lubing doesn't help more then a day or two. But I'm past the 36k mile bumper to bumper now.

The one they sent to me was full of BS he said it was sand i completly cleaned them amd said it went away, i did not even get home and it started makeing noise. And when i went back he told me to buzz off, we will see if you get a diffrent result, but if not claim lemon law, that is where toyota backed me into amd it was the only way to fix the noise, it was loud enough to hear over the radio.

Here is what I do not understand. The inconsistency in feedback from dealership service admins... how is it one dealer has Toyota open a case for the issue and send out a Field Rep, then another dealer I call says "oh yeah it's a known issue, we have to order new parts and replace under warranty". Does the left hand not know what the right hand is doing across toyota? Sounds like a huge integration and crossflow of information clusterfuck.

It is took me a year to go through it, they are just trying to cover it up, in my opinion.

Yeah, I could understand the dealers all not knowing what the other dealers are doing but Toyota sending a field tech if it is actually a known issue and there are actually just replacement parts for it seems kind of silly. Can you find out what parts they plan to replace/install?

 tell us how you really feel. But seriously it is annoying!:annoyed:Toyota has a huge ego issue, it seems, they just won't step up and admit when something is an issue!

I also have a 2016 that started squeeking from the rear leaf on the driver side. Mine started with less than 400 miles on it. I have tried lubricating it with no luck. Looks like I need to take it to the dealership too. Sounds like an old farm truck and I still have temp tags on it!

For what it's worth. I had the same squeak as the rest of you. Took it to the dealership and of course it decided to not squeak when I dropped it off.

I read in another post about Fluid Film. I bought a can and sprayed everything I could reach with the tires still on and the truck sitting on the ground. It fixed the squeak for about a week but then it came back. A few weeks later I had the tires off for something else and decided to really get in there since I could access much more of the leafs. I saturated the hell out of the whole leaf pack. That was probably two months ago and I haven't had any squeaking since. I've had it out on lots of dusty roads since then as well. Fluid Film is pretty legit stuff, I'd never even heard of it before.

One bit of warning. If you do spray the hell out of your leaf pack with it, leave your truck outside of the garage for the next day or two. Fluid Film smells pretty bad.

Mine never replaced or installed anything, they just looked at and said sand is pushing up the leafs causeing it to rub. But you could have a diffrent person, depending on which toyota you are dealing with.

Lets try not to make this thread the same as mine, but what do you mean you know the problem is real, did you know that in my thread or now that you saw other people you know the problem is real? Just curious

When I picked my truck up last night from the dealership the squeaking was so quiet I had to check if it still did it when I got home. It does but it is way better than it was before. I don't know if they lubed something or tightened something or what. I still have an appointment with the Toyota tech on Thursday and I still have a squeak that is unacceptable for a new vehicle with only 4K miles on it.
