There probably is a country thread, but I was kind of hoping to get people who are passionate about this genre of music. It's tied to so many of my memories from childhood to being mounted away from 40. This all got started cause of something @sapperguy said about "wanna be" country got me thinking about my grandpa and how you used to tell me Randy Travis wasn't country or how Marti Robbins was just about as good as it gets. It really is the sound track of so many people's lives. Ok I'm done being sappy.

Also Merle is a fracking icon.

Classic country and Red Dirt/Texas Music is the only country I listen to. That's the best part of living in Ft Worth. You can hit The Stockyards and hear it any day of the week.

All time favorite is John Anderson. Beautiful old Florida country music that hits home. My personal favorite is "Seminole Wind".

Respectfully think you should change the thread name to the Devolution of country music.

When I was in high school country rock was emerging. Marshall Tucker, Poco, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Charlie Daniels Band, Eagles. Old timers hated it.

I worked with Glenn Reese and Curly Lewis, two members of Bob Wills Texas Playboys. Now they had some great stories.

this pretty much sums up how I feel about country music the last 20 years. Not all bad but mostly crap.

You fellas ever give Jason Isbell a listen? He's got more of a folk sound/the band. Hell of a song writer and not a bad guitar player at all. I think there was a point in time this year where his new album was #1 on rock and country billboards. I dig the hell out of em

The title stays. It's not about wether you like where country is going or if you want it to go back to the 70's. I just want people's opinions, thought, suggestions.

That is part of what I'm getting at. I don't like a lot of what's out there that's labeled country. Most of it belongs on a top 40 pop station. But is this where the genre is going?

I listen to a little bit of it all. From Merle Haggard and George Jones to George Strait, Eric Church, Cody Johnson, Brantley Gilbert, and Jamey Johnson.
