Not the first time I've seen this in todays world...If widget A is $100, and widget B is $50, OBVIOUSLY, widget A is "better".

In my world, widget B is the better one until someone shows me where it truly is lower in quality

Exactly, these offroad aftermarket companies need to get off there high horse and start really showing why there product is superior. I want charpy tests, weld visual and destructive test reports, material certs, etc. for me to truly trust any vendor. When it comes to bumpers i just need something sturdy enough to kill an elk that runs in the road and hold up against the elements of time. This knock off bumper is exactly what id expect and wanted for 600$

:rimshot:Drum roll please......ALMOST 200 pages in a week. Shitpost's, nonsense, pissing contest's, etc......Still a LOT of interest in low cost bumpers. OK....How about some $250 sliders? That aughtta be good for 500 post's all on it's own!

All im saying is this is just the beginning and these other offroad mfg's just lost 11 bumper sales in 24 hours and almost 30 total front and backs! Sliders, cargo racks and swing outs are on the horizon.

My bet is we never see $600 again. They tested the market and sold out fast. If, somehow, they've managed to figure out cheap freight from China, we might see a lot more coming over... but that's a big if. I bet they lowballed the price to beta test these, and are watching this thread carefully. They'll work out any kinks and come back with a redesign but at a higher price. Freight even inside the US has to be at least $100... I bet these show up for $900 with free shipping next.

I agree. My previous two Apex bumpers had full hoop. The small hoop looks kinda funny to me, but I'll deal with it for $600. Maybe it'll grow on me...

I didn't realize AP/RF etc. dropped their prices that low. That means they have a pretty high profit margin with their MSRP. So yeah, maybe $600 with free shipping is the price point. If these guys keep bringing them in (and more products too) at that price, we'll see more sales or price drops from the US guys. I just can't get my head around the shipping cost though. Either the guys bringing in the cheap stuff are operating on razor thin margins, or they're part of a larger company that is big enough to get great shipping rates. Something isn't adding up- unless it massive profit margins on the US stuff- but that doesn't add up either because there are enough of them to create a competitive market.

I hope so, not that its our business, but this thread needs a resolution/explanation dammit.

Hopefully my shipping snafu is worked out and I get it Friday. Should it be scratched up like the other one received today I may look into a couple different options.

Can have it sandblasted at work, might be able to get a refinish discount with shops they use. And if welds are questionable after the powder coat comes off, well, I know a few welders as well.

Don't believe the Hype an AP Apex bumper base is $929, A light bar hoop is $99, Powder coat is $240. That puts the same AP bumper at $1268 and that doesn't even include shipping. Even after a 20% promotion, you still are paying $1014 for what is pretty much the exact same bumper (assuming welds are quality). People just love to justify why they pay so much for stuff.

to each their own, if you can afford the highest priced stuff, good for you. Most cant. This is coming from an Engineer that makes pretty good money.

Well, I guess it is settled then. If/when I decide to toss an aftermarket bumper on my truck I'm pretty sure I know what I'll be buying. These bumpers look legit for the money IMO.
