I'm hell bent on getting new tires fitted tomorrow on my 4R TRD wheels, and the K02s in C load (265/70/17) has always been on my mind. I'm just not a fan of the aggressive look.

I've read a lot of reviews, but no one really mentions dry on road performance? How are they? Looking for an OEM quality ride, great grip/feedback, and quiet.

    Thanks in advance!

Great grip both on dry and wet pavement. Braking is very even with no pulling. Noise is very negligible for an AT tire. You feel the weight of the tires at low speeds, ride is very good. I have 16's so the sidewall is a bit taller I believe than the 17's (265/75) and unless its a highway expansion joint from hell, its a very nice ride. My wife didnt even notice different tires on our last outing and she rarely drives with me.

Many thanks. Do you have an E load tire?

They are very highly rated at tire rack for on road performance, but just wanted to see what other 3rd gen owners think.

They are great on and off-road. Have them on the 87 and couldn't be happier with them. They ride much better then the grabbers I have on my 05. Not very loud either.

I think they are great on both. Plus they help me pop wheelies in my truck

Also considering the Nitto Grappler G2s since they are OEM on the 4R TRD Pro.

I drove on my stock toyo tires for about 1500 miles. Those tires rode very smoothly. Very comfortable and quiet. The ko2s are a stiffer ride and do have a little road noise. After getting them on I made the comment to my wife that it rides more like a truck now. It doesn't seem to have handling issues or grip issues. The off-road performance has been great so far as well.

They're great. I have E Loads. I would have gotten a lighter load if I could have, but they're awesome. I'm very happy with them all around

ManyKO2s I install or see installed at my dealer have poor balancing issues, sometimes out of round, very few guys at my large dealership dare install them. They are a poor choice in my opinion and experience.
The best truck tire with offroad look is the Toyo AT2. Otherwise get Michelin LTX, they are super quiet and last a long time.

I would go LTX if I never planned on going off pavement or gravel roads.

Also, ride smoothness is key for me. Am I barking up the wrong tree with the K02s?

I'm on my second set of KO2s in E load, love them. But if this ^ is what you really want, keep shopping.

You may be onto something here.

In regards to the AT look, I have the TRD Pro wheels, and they don't look quite right with HT tires if you know what I mean. I will never go wheeling, but a dirt road to a camp spot -- sure. But i'm sure I don't need an A/T tire for that. Just want something more aggressive than HT tires, and the K02s seem to be so popular.

You are the first to talk negatively about the K02s. Another tire on my list is the LTX AT/2. What do you think about those? Seems the M/S2 has been replaced by the defender?

The KO2 is a fine looking tire.

Zero issues with my 265/75R16 BFG AT KO2 tires after 20k miles and a 80 mile daily commute. I do a lot of off-road driving too and the tires are great there as well.

The LTX AT2 comes standard on the Tundra TRD Offroad and I haven't seen or heard any complaints. They are a lot softer than a KO2 or Toyo AT2 which would result in a better ride.

The Goodyear Adventure may work to your liking as well, they come standard on the TRD offroad models but only in 16's I really liked mine but I wanted an E rated tire for offroading. It's a truck tire without going to a heavy noisy tire. They are P metric in that size.

I'm the guy voting aginst KO2's and I'll do my damnedest!

Another tire I've been pretty impressed with in the past is the Firestone Destination AT, especially for the price. I had great luck with them on the road and off when I ran them on a previous vehicle (also saw a lot of time off-road) and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. Plenty of solid choices out there but when I drop money on tires in the future I'll likely stay with the KO2.

Thank you everyone for the helpful replies. I've been researching tires like a mad man and my short list is pretty much what was recommended here. I only really thought of the K02s because of how highly they are rated on road. The K02 is the only tire I considered in C load range.

Am I wrong to assume that if I do get a C load tire with stiffer sidewall, it will help with that 'floaty' feel?

My short list in order of preference so far:

    1. K02
    2. LTX AT/2
    3. Nitto Terra Grappler G2
    4. Goodyear Wrangler Adventure Kevlar
