I've got them in 265/60/18 and like them a lot. When they wear out, I'm ditching the 18s and probably going with the LTX2. When I bought the ko2s I had been going back and forth between the two. There isn't anything wrong with the ko2s other than being super heavy. They don't have the on road manners that my MS/2s had but seriously they look so damn bad ass I'm OK with it. I'll switch up though like I said. Road noise is more than it was with the Michelins. Not at all loud though. Just a tick louder. Zero surprise there. It was to be expected. Did notice a difference in acceleration though. I am 100 percent on the road

Do the k02's weigh much more than stock Firestone destinations/toyo?

I have KO2's 265/70/17 load range C and drive them on streets and highways 98.73% of the time. They are great! a bit stiffer than the stock tires but I prefer the feel of it.

Toyota AT2... Best multi surface tire you can buy, imo. People buy the ko2's because they look cool but the Toyo A/T2 is 3 times the tire.
That being said, I had the Michelins for 60k miles and they were incredible... Stuck like glue in rainy weather on the street, we're OK Offroad and the wear was phenomenal. best tire I've ever had.

@stan23 Since I don't have anything better to do while waiting for my truck, I've been down this road over and over again and have come to the same conclusion each time: BFG KO2-> Toyo AT2 -> Cooper AT3 -> Michelin Defender LTX MS

    Why?
BFG KO2 - Several reports of balancing issues but still a great AT tire, heavy, stiff
Toyo AT2 - Oldy but goody was how I summed this up, comes in a P rating
Cooper AT3 - Great reviews all around (even on-road) but still an AT tire
Michelin Defender LTX - Comfortable, quiet, all season performance that's lighter than stock when paired with the right wheel. My intended use was city / freeway driving 5 days a week, fire roads / light OR on the weekends. Besides the documented long and consistent life, do a search on these here in TW and you will find members doing more than just light OR and praising the tire on anything except mud. Comes in P and E rating.

I've also found that pretty much everyone stocks this size (around me at least) so you can get your tires tomorrow (today) as stated.

I have P245/75/16 Hankook Dynapro ATM on a '90 Range Rover and they've handled plenty of off-road and mud work while still being very comfortable on the road. Good traction in rain, snow and ice as well. They were on the truck when I bought it, have done 21k miles since and are in good shape with plenty of tread depth remaining. All around an excellent performing all terrain but not as beefy and tough as a LT rated KO2.

My Tacoma has LT285/75/16 KO2s which have also done well in all conditions, on/off road, rain, snow, ice, etc. KO2s have a tougher look and tread design but I haven't noticed any appreciable difference in performance.

I'll admit this, the Defender's are probably the best on road tire, but HT tires just don't look right with the 4R TRD Pro wheel.

Why would you even consider the KO2's then? There are far superior tires for road performance, namely the Michelin's. Especially if you don't even like an aggressive look.

Only because they are so highly rated for on road performance. They are rated much higher on tires rack for on road performance than any other mild A/T tire.

No lift - stock suspension. Modest ride height increase from the overall diameter being taller.

I have E-load rated K02's (came with my truck). 2004 Tacoma 4x4 v6. I'd have gone with C load if it were up to me, but I love these tires. Best off-road tires I've ever had, and they work great on the street too. With them and my supercharger I'm still averaging 20mpg on the highway (18 overall). I bet with the C load ones I'd be doing even better.

This thread has made me realize that tire manufacturers are missing out on a HUGE market niche; 'Cosmetic All-Terrain Tires'. These tires would have huge/deep tread blocks to impart that 'off-road image' that seems to be so desirable, but thin rubber throughout and a compound tailored for highway use.

I can't believe so many people would compromise grip, noise, comfort, and fuel economy in their ~99% usage scenario for cosmetics and performance in their ~1% usage scenario.

Pretty happy with my G2s so far for the road, dirt and sand, just waiting to see how they handle the snow.

They look great with the TRD wheel and cheaper than the KO2.

I have them in 265/70/17 with the stock suspension, no rubbing at all.

Not sure if you are directing this at me, but like I said. Not a fan of the overly aggressive AT look of the k02. Just seems like they were a highly rated on road tire as well, but would like real opinions.

I am guilty of this to some degree. All else being equal I prob would have been fine getting Michelin LTX m/s2's (albeit they are more money) but I liked the look of the Cooper AT3's more. I do minimal off roading, mostly fire trails for camping etc. Either one was a huge upgrade to the stock Rugged Trails that came on the truck though.

Check this review here, pretty thorough covering everything from offroading to street use for some select AT tires....
