Nice! Former Alabamian here! And I've been a hammocker for nearly 10 years! Used to hike Cheaha and Bankhead quite a bit. I've thru hiked the Pinhoti twice too!

You must have if you could spot the pinhoti on spot like that! I've completed the entire trail in both states about 80% in sections. I won't ever be able to thru hike it because of work but before I transfer next year I will knock out the sections I have left!

As long as you're out there enjoying it, who cares how you do it! It's a beautiful trail! I've got a photo I need to dig out when Sweetwater Lk flooded. Water level was AT the blue blazes!

I have loved hiking it in sections, it's taken me 3 years but I feel like I'm connected to that trail more because of just how much time I've spent doing it. Plus really I will have hiked the entire thing twice because I almost always hiking alone and all the sections have been in an out hikes.

The Pinhoti will always have a special place in my heart. The southern section at Flagg Mtn... I helped build/hand dig that section.
And I think Lower Shoal Shelter has to be one of the best camp spots!
