SoCal STOLEN TAILGATES

hey guys my dads tailgate was almost stolen and they stole my Trasharoo last night. About 6 other Tacoma owners have had there tailgate stolen last night that I know up. If anybody has seen a brunch to tailgates stolen please let me know. They're pretty expensive with the camera. Thank you

Side note to locking tailgates, if you go this route: prepare for broken tailgate handles. Morons will tug on it until it breaks. Handles are way less expensive than tailgates but still...

 

Check craiglslist, Erik. There were a few people posting some time back and showed a picture of an open garage with a bunch of different colored tailgates for Tacomas and other trucks. Damn shame.

 

Yes lax as in the airport. And they open my dad tailgate lock on the handle somehow and it had another lock but they couldn't break it open. And my neighbors had a hose clamp and they took it off and ripped their cameras wiring off. I would recommend something else.

Same ad, contact info and description, two different colored tailgates. This might be another thief (SFV) is far enough away from LAX that I would not think the two are connected since @Medina33 's whole neighborhood was hit on one night, most likely it was someone local that had cased the block beforehand.

SFV is not too far from LAX, maybe 30-40 minutes during off traffic hours. There are people that drive to different neighborhoods to check for cars left unlocked and tail gates. Beverly Hills is a place were many unlocked cars are hit.

 

Mine has gps tracking device... You can buy TILE and use double side tape.

 

Not that this will help, but when I went about theft-proofing my Tacoma tail gate, I removed the panel from the gate and wrote my vin in the inside wall of the gate with a big black marks-a-lot. My thinking was that I'd have the cops show up if I ever saw it on a local craigslist. Have the would-be owner pull the panel. Cops in my area would be inclined to go along with this.

I use dual hose clamps - the washer mod and 2 Master Lock bicycle chains locked up underneath the truck. The crew that hit you could get thru all of this, but they would need to spend more time on it.
