I'm still in the process of deciding how I want my body side molding to look. I've looked hard at color-matched molding but lean more towards matte black. I want my molding a certain way and have determined by ordering molding for a D-cab I can trim it to fit the way I want. Below are before and after photos, the "molding" photo is computer generated but you get the idea. I'd like to know what other's think. Thanks for your input!

I know it looks cool stock but I need to protect the doors from idiots in parking lots. You would think the side steps would do just that but they don't, I need better protection and body side moldings provide that.

Just look at the build thread
Get sliders instead of your steps. Problem solved.

Sliders are on the list but they too won't prevent door dings when parked next to other trucks, went through this with my Super Duty. Would really like to keep my doors ding free.

That's him been on for almost 2 years now and not a spec of paint missing on them. And when you look in the sun you can see little puck marks where doors have bumped them.

I've listened to reason and popular vote but I did order molding just the color-matched version. After further viewing it did look a little busy in the matte black department, with color-matched it won't stand out as much. I also took advantage of Sportwing's 7% discount and purchased the set that goes on a D-cab. I still intend to trim/modify them to fit in the inset as shown in my OP.

Stock OP...it amazes me that people can turn a great looking truck into a Pontiac Aztec in short order..jmho..To each their own I guess....

Putting Body Side Moldings on a vehicle make it look like a Pontiac Aztec?

As people say, your truck, your money! Glad you went with what you wanted and I'm curious to see what it looks like.

I'm trying to protect my great looking truck as much as I possibly can. I recently sold a Super Duty which cost me over $60k and had dings, dents and scratches all down the side from absolute assholes in parking lots, I prefer not to let this happen to my Tacoma. And yes, to each his own. YMMV

I will post photos when I've got them installed. I will have to cut and trim them quite a bit then repaint them before I install them so it may take me a bit.

The Dawn-Ent FE2-TACDC (4V6 Quicksand) color-matched body side molding for a 2016 Tacoma D-cab arrived today compliments of FedEx. Dawn-Ent absolutely got the color right which is helpful. This will definitely work but will take some cutting, trimming and bending followed with repainting. Have quite a bit on my plate at the moment but will get to this project soon, photos will follow installation.
