Shop broke one of my Bilsteins

My shop was correcting my 885 coils set on Bilstein 5100's up front because they put them on the highest setting the first time (yes they're retards). However, when they were disassembling the coil they broke one of my Bilstein shocks and now want to know if Toytec will warranty it. Any opinions comments are welcome

 

The shop should replace it for breaking it. Toytec doesn't have anything to do with the install. The warranty only covers breakdown during normal useage. The shop is responsible.

Iam pretty shure that they don't warranty (retard labor). It's simple. They need to buy you a new shock.

The shop is asking knowing that they are at fault but they don't want to pay up. They're hoping you'll fight with Toytec over it and get them to cover it somehow, I highly doubt that this would happen unless you lied about how it broke. Tell the shop it's their responsibility, or tell them that Toytec denied warranty coverage. Either way, they should be the ones to cover the expense of a new shock.

 

They just called about 5 minutes ago so I don't have pictures but I just called Toytec and they're going to call me back. This shop has been doing suspension for "20 plus years" yet I know more than them being a beginner

 

Maybe you can source one locally and pay it out of pocket, then get the shop to reimburse you? Likely be a lot faster that way

 

Make sure the shop puts your truck back on stock parts and that they charge you $0.00

 

They already charged me 370$ to set it at the highest setting

 

And put on Ironman leaf springs

 

Yeah that's weird they did that, that's one of the very first things I learned about lifting my truck with billies; never adjust the height if you're using aftermarket coils. Especially not up to the highest setting. They definitely should've known better

 

$370 for a complete 5100 install isn't bad, actually it's a bit better than what I've been quoted even from a few fellow TW members. I've been hearing $400 from most people for 5100's all around, OME coils and a 3 pack AAL in the rear.

 

Just to spread the word. No one else will go to this shop but their name is DEEP SOUTH SUSPENSION and they suck ass

 

how the hell do you break a shock installing it?

 

I'd put money on some shop goon putting the airgun to the top nut and twisting the plunger rod out, thus blowing the shock.

 

How can I make him pay for the shock though?

 

Simple, it was in their possession when it broke.

 

I mean...they should understand and be willing to cover their mistake. If they aren't, then that's shitty but I don't really know what you can do. Threatening small claims court won't be worth it for the cost of one shock. If they absolutely refuse I would never use them again and be sure to spread the word (just be wary of putting them on blast online, I've heard horror stories of Yelpers getting sued for doing that).
