when I built my most recent rc sailboat, I had to fill the keep with lead myself. a 1/10 scale sailboat only takes about 5 lbs of ballast in the bulb of the keel, but scuba dive weights were what I went with. it's essentially just bird shot in a pouch. cut open the pouch, and there's the lead. so since it sounds like a sailboat keel is more lead than you're looking for, just get a handful of dive weights or some bulk bird/buck shot.

My only issue with that is lead shot is going to cost about $1.50 a pound, and the idea here to be as much as a cheap-o as possible. Although if it comes down to it, I'll just buy lead.

yeah, or, depending if your smelter is big enough, get the bricks instead of the pouches, you get more lead per $ that way.

other idea is get the tire weight remover tool and take a walk around a junkyard and pull all the weights you can find

    Long time no talk!

I disappeared for a while and am glad to see everyone still up to their normal fuckery around these parts.

Making progress. started the afternoon with the goal of building the new exhaust (done). ended the evening with the entire engine torn apart on my work bench, cleaning it with a toothbrush. hope I remember how to put it back together tonight.

    thanks for the reminder!

you can get creative. 3/4'' conduit fits through the center of a bed cleat. then all you have to do is secure the bottom to something. I did that before I had the bed rack. now I just toss my same conduit flag pole through the center of my spare tire and throw a ratchet strap on the bottom.

Stayed at work late polishing the engine in that 67 El Camino I recently bought. Hard to believe what a little polish & elbow grease can achieve. Still waiting on the new aluminum radiator that I ordered. Then it's going on CL.
