    Check out the build
Yeah, you guys basically share my thoughts.

I really like the convenience of a teardrop style camper where you can sleep in it. I can load it up in the back and front and have all the gear ready to go. I could also put my RTT on top and it's more sleep area for the kid in the future. It would be easy to setup camp and if I have to leave I can simple un hitch and drive off, if I want to explore the area and not tear down camp and set it back up.

At the same time, most of the trips I have done are just like what Phil said. We drive, hit a destination, setup camp and take it all in, then pack up and keep moving the next day. Again a trailer may be nice to setup/breakdown of camp faster, but some of those trails have been gnarly. Not in terms of rocks or obstacles, but just weaving though really tight spaces. My last trip to bear valley comes to mind and I don't know how I would have gone through the ATV trails in the forrest uphill with a trailer, or having to backup down a road because a tree had fallen and we have to find another way.

I see the pro's and cons of both, I'm really leaning towards the Habitat, but the trailer has some appeal to it. I feel like they might be a wash with footprint being the biggest plus of the Habitat and the ease camp prep with the trailer.

I dunno. We'll see. She goes left when I go right sometimes on the most random shit like this lol. She's definitely not a camper, and the full Coleman set up was to make it as glamping as possible. I'm about a step away from just picking up a smaller size camper just to get her to go along. Wife says ' she likes camping' but the lack of said camping in the last like 3 years proves that's a lie lol. Now her excuse is 'The baby is to young' and I'm like, dude brought his 9 month old and was fine ( @Mademan925 IIRC?), 'Well, I just don't want to have to deal with it!'. F It, whatever, I'll enjoy the offroading and camping with you guys and then when my boy is a hair older, he's coming with me and she can figure out what she wants to do

Exactly. I was a little more forced into going the trailer route. Because prerunner bullshit bed full and all. But that's the key...go the route that serves your needs best.

when Lisa and I didn't bring the trailer last weekend the truck was full to the brim. I really Pefer an empty truck and full trailer. Plus it's nice to setup camp and still be able to wheel.

I agree. Hence the RTT route for myself now. So really I just need a Cooler strapped down in the back now and my camping needs are fulfilled. The Wife along equals lots of extra goodies and the bed get super weighed down.

By blank check, you mean I get to move where I want, and not factor in the wife and kids. DEAL!!! Space is the problem for me. I've seen all 3 trailers and really really like them. Wife would love that style of camping just based on the one night she spent in the tepui.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
We went on a 10 day camping trip to Utah when my son was 5 weeks old in my wife's old Prius with damn near no gear and a ground tent the kids are easy when they are small (the wife didn't have too much fun pumping the whole time!) . My son is 3 and has camped at least two and half months of his life maybe more. I think the crawling period is the hardest with the little ones before they are moving they just sit. and once they are walking they are all good running around getting dirty just being a kid.

I remember Moab last year and your son just having a blast in the water puddle around camp.

Yeah, this is what my wife and I are agonizing over now too. He is crawling, 10.5 mos., and I think we should just wait until he is on his feet, which he is getting closer to every day. Obviously. he's in the middle of a super fussy phase right now anyway, so fuck that.

Yeah, our guy powers right for the front and back doors at the house. We take him outside to chill him out when fussy. But he is super clingy right now too.

I think the best we could manage right now is an overnight at Samuel P. Taylor or something like that.
