This is Musket. He doesn't like to hold still for pictures, so this is about the best one I have. His new buddy Hatchet is recovering from surgery, but will be home later today. Both of them are rescues.

His rib spot is on the opposite side and ticks aren't as dark, plus he's got some poop on his face

What do y'all do for your dogs on the 4th??

My 6 year old HATES the 4th. He paces and pants, and whines. We've tried a huge walk the morning of, TV on, natural remedies, thunder shirt. They don't work! Hate to get him drugged, but it bothers me that he gets stressed out!

My lab pup is almost 8 months old and she is a huge wuss. Mowers, motorcycles, anything that is slightly loud she gets terrified. Thunder just confuses her though oddly enough but if she gets nervous about storms at night I usually just snuggle with her and she is fine so hopefully that gets her through her first Independence Day.

I miss him terribly so I decided that he needed to be with me all the time... I got this done yesterday... It's not for everyone but he changed my life forever.

I put mine in the basement, Its cool and quiet. Funny thing is, they're bird dogs. Don't think anything about a shotgun going off right next to them, but don't like Fireworks.

My female doesn't like thunderstorms either.

My pup. She's a mix between a rat terrier and Boston terrier. Full of energy and completely spoiled lol

We've always brought our dog with us to fireworks...this'll be his fourth 4th and he just sits through them and looks around. He's never been alone so I'm not sure how he'd act.

That is my girls, too. Going to try a thundershirt on the older one.

Distract him. I am going to try (read this yesterday) freezing peanut butter in a kong. should take them a little while to get it out. tried knuckle bones a couple of years ago and it worked, but they paid for it the next two days :( If that doesn't work, I just turn the tv up loud. Good luck

My vet suggests Benadryl. 1mg for every pound but I wouldn't exceed 50mg (usually 2 of the regular pills). It acts as a mild sedative and works well for my dog. He's around 60 pounds and it usually calms him down
