District 9 is the best of those 3. I saw that one in theaters and it blew my mind. I liked Elysium too. Chappie was just OK. It had some really bad acting in it that made it hard to watch.

If you like Halo (video game) look up the short that Neill Blomkamp made. It's on YouTube...

Of the three, I've only seen District 9 and really liked it. I started watching Chappie but didn't get very far because of the colorful guns. I might try to get over the bright pinks and yellows and give it another shot.

I really enjoyed "District 9", with its out of the cookie cutter box thinking just drew me in. When I read Peter Jackson was the producer, I knew it would be good (has Peter Jackson ever been involved in a bad movie?). I really wish there would be more movies that were this visually stunning, it was just a Science Fiction fans dream.

I'm just curious what you thought about a movie called "Pacific Rim"? I wasn't a big fan of the Transformer movies, Pacific Rim in my opinion had everything I want in a Sci-Fi movie, especially redemption and the father son connection, there was a real story behind it, along with great special effects/animation. My only regret is not seeing it in 3D IMAX, as that would have been awesome. I just heard that a sequel to Guillermo Del Toro's 2013 Pacific Rim, is scheduled to hit hit theaters on February 23, 2018 called "Pacific Rim 2", John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) leads the cast of PACIFIC RIM 2. I will try to see it in 3D IMAX when it does come out to get the full effect and would bring the experience of the movie to the different level IMO.

Looooooove Pacific Rim. Hated that it didn't do that well in the U.S. but it crushed it in China so it locked up the sequel. Can't wait to see that. Had read a lot about delays and issues it was facing but have recently seen its headed in the right direction again. I've liked most things Guillermo

FWIW - I really dig the transformers movies too :anonymous:

Yeah, I was just amazed with the special effects and how 2 people and more, would team up to be one fighting machine. To me it was like watching "Creature Double Feature", but on a double shot of steroids. I must have looked like a deer in the headlights with my expression of how well they pulled this movie off. I hope some how Peter Jackson again has his input into "Pacific Rim 2".

It just wasn't my cup of tea, so to each there own and I respect your opinion. I did like the first one, but would have liked it if they stopped at that, without the squeals, I don't hate the Transformers, it was just OK IMO.

I didn't know that they were making a sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed Pacific Rim. If you watch Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you need to watch Pacific Rim and then watch the Flowers for Charlie episode.

One thing everyone knows, but thought I would mention is trailers on Youtube. Two movies that I have recommended, "Victoria (2015)" and "Cash Only". would have been ruined if I had seen the trailers on YouTube before watching the movies, so I didn't link them here. You have to be careful with certain trailers, because some will ruin the movie by detailing too much information, basically showing the whole movie awhile others just give you a feel for it. I only watch enough to get a feel if it something worth watching, while stopping when it will show too much. Sometimes I just scan the comments to get the vibe of the people that have seen it, but again some people love to give spoilers, which you have to be careful of seeing too. Maybe the best way to use Youtube trailers to get a feel for the movie, is to just check out the likes vs dislikes, so you don't ruin the movie with spoilers before viewing it, but still get a feel for it.

Another Sci-Fi movie I watched that drew me in and held me till the end is called "Ex_ Machina" and will leave you with more questions than answers at the end. The movie brings A.I. to the next level in a movie with great acting and special effects. The director was Alex Garland best known for his work as the screenwriter of 28 Days Later (2002), Sunshine (2007), Never Let Me Go (2011) and Dredd (2012).

Hahahahaha.........This is the first A.I. movie that I had the hots for a robot, she was really sexy IMHO. Yeah, just everything about the movie was well done/thought out, so enjoyable to see movies like this once and awhile.

Has anyone else seen this masterpiece of crap?

A person called "greeneggsnspam", had that movie and had the best list of bad movies on this thread at post# 109. Here is his list:

    Godfather 3
    Teenage Catgirls in heat
    Sharknado
    Cyxork 7
    Space Mutiny
    The Room
    Killer Condom
    Birdemic
    Manos hands of fate
Any VHS/BETA of me from when I was a kid.

Most of these movies I haven't seen and "The Room", is one on my list to see.

The Room is so bad that the writer/director/producer/star Tommy Wiseau stopped marketing it as a "drama" and started marketing it as a "dark comedy" after people laughed through screenings. Also, there are sex scenes . . . awkward and overly lengthy sex scenes.

District 9 is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. The director also did Elysium with Matt Damon and it is also worth watching.
