What do you have the view optimized for in export?

 

Had some time to kill while my fiancé was taking a test in Salem. So went to the Capitol and took some quick pics.. Ended up going to abiqua falls afterwards.. A lot of off-roading and down crazy hiking to get there.

 

Hmmm... I'll have to check the next time I'm in it. I'm sure it's best quality (or something like that).

 

I have mine optimized for screen.

 

Thanks medic and axion for the advice. Went back and tried my light painting attempt for the 3rd time and it turned out pretty good..

 

O buddy, my astrophotography shots are getting better!! Pretty proud of these two shots compared to my last one which was my first ever astrophotography shot with the truck. thank to everyone on here for the tips it's really improving my photography.

 

When you're shooting with flash, especially at night, try a warming gel on the flash so it's not so cold. A quarter cut CTO would do for low power. CTO is color temperature orange and makes the flash look almost like sunlight (color temp wise).

 

^^^Good advice here. I agree a CTO would make this look great.

 

I used a flashlight but I'm assuming CTO on that would be just the same. Thank you next session I'll have to try that...

 

I am on a vacation in Kauai and have tried to get some shots of the local wildlife. It's been a great trip.

 

What did you use for taking photos underwater? Those are awesome.

 

Thanks! I used a GoPro for the underwater and my Nikon for the dolphins.

 

It'd work just fine. But, remember, you want to use less power/smaller flashlight or heavier CTO.

the new hero4s have a pretty nice camera, im still stuck with my hero 3 white edition lol, Im in need of an upgrade at some point

 

I believe mine is just the Hero 2. I generally use it for photos, not video and it works pretty well. With a little photoshop refinement, you can make just about anything look good.

 

Question guys. I'm gonna go camping next week and was curious if you guys have tips on lighting for mountains when shooting at night? Im used to foreground object being up close to illuminate but not far away.

 

The moon and exposure time are your friend. If you're looking at doing something like a Milky Way in the sky and mountains below it then you can set up the camera on a tripod and take the mountain scene earlier in the night. Just past sunset where you can get some illumination then take the Milky Way later that night but the camera and tripod will have to be left in the same spot for both shots. You can then combine the two photo's in PS to get what you want.

That was one my ideas but I wasn't sure if it wws the best technique.. No matter what it should be interesting. Can't wait!
