I know they're really good for diesels but have not heard anything about them with gas vehicles.

You probably noticed I was in the can team. That being said. I wouldn't expect to get more than 30hp out of those bolt ons. The general consensus was if you want "substantial" gains, go supercharger. Check out the urd headers though. They seem to be the most effective.

What kind of bolt-ons are you running? My biggest question, considering my current upgrades, has anyone had their ECU remapped for their upgrades? Im not sure how all that works. From the information I've been able to gather, if you're going to add more airflow via exhaust/intake, you've got to let your computer know too. Otherwise your motor is constantly trying to adjust for the stock components. Now I'm not speaking tacomas specifically, just in more general terms. Im assuming recalibrating your MAS is part of that proccess. Does anyone know or have ever heard of someone remapping after upgrades??

The results of the URD performance package are pretty impressive. And the RWHP gains would probably be higher on my truck being a manual transmission (correct me if I'm wrong). At half the cost of a supercharger. And probably less money to install as well.

Ive got the manual tranny as well. Ive also been wondering if thats why I've seen more of a difference in the few upgrades Ive done vs what everyone else is saying on this thread about intake/exhaust. I cant imagine the tranny affecting the actual combustion pressure with upgrades. I think with the manual tranny we might just feel it more due to having total control over what are engine+tranny is doing to work in sync.

You lose a lot less power through the drivetrain with a manual. Automatics are powers suckers.

Would love to supercharge but unfortunately it just isn't in the budget right now. After installation costs are all said and done It would end up costing me half of what I spent on the truck in the first place.

Biggest game without the supercharger will be from the urd sspe-u headers.

I've been doing some research because I'd like to do the same. I came across AFE Power Twisted Steel headers and Y-pipe. They're claiming that the results off their dino will add ~30 HP and 40 TQ with their long tube headers and exhaust system. I went down to their warehouse yesterday and spoke with one of their guys (Tyler). Unfortunately he was saying that they've had some issues with CEL's after installing the headers on some trucks. I guess the high-flow cats can make it run a little wonky. He suggested finding someone who can do an engine tune which will take care of the problem. Unfortunately for me, I can't find a soul who does tuning anywhere in the state of California. :help:

That said... is there anyone on this forum who knows a guy who knows a who will do tuning? California? Arizona? Nevada?... :spy:

No I don't tune trucks. I'm just saying I'm in Florida so I wouldn't know anyone in Cali.

I didn't think there was a way to tune 2nd or 3rd gens since the ecu is encrypted.

Sorry to rain on your parade but don't count on it. If you're looking for a big jump in power you're going to need to supercharge.
