Big gains by GM this month and Toyota is down by a smidge. GM almost selling 80% as many mid-sizers as Toyota. Toyota still leads the pack but what will happen when the other automakers throw their name in the mid-size hat?

Was GM running their typical sales during the month of June claiming the MSRP to be $1.6 million but this month they're $50 and you get a stuffed animal?

I am surprised that the Frontier sales are up so much.

Guess the Tacoma 2016 problems are getting widely known.

I have a buddy who is a Nissan salesman. Says they are getting all sorts of fleet orders for Frontiers. Makes sense, they are the cheapest mid sizer you can get.

There is your answer most likely. One of the reasons why the F series Ford wins yearly, almost every contractor drives one.

It's absolutely amazing how much better the Tacoma is selling, considering there are NO incentives! The Colorado is 0% for 72 months!!

If Toyota offered 0% for 72 on Tacoma, and built the plants it would need for capacity, they could easily give the big trucks a run for the money.

Go Frontier!! It's amazing how an 11 year old truck is still selling well. Fleet sales or not, you can still get huge discounts on the top of the line Pro-4x models. It's the last midsize truck not hampered by the EPA.

Yes, 3rd Gen. What other model in it's class could it be catching up to? Report me to an admin if it makes you feel better though.

Really kind of disappointing that the 3rd gen is selling less than gen 2 a year later coming off of a (soft) redesign. Especially in this automotive climate that is actually doing really well. Look at the jump in sales from the F-150 from last year. Seems like the Tacoma gen 3 sales spiked a few months after it was released then it dropped down to below what it was doing 1 year prior.
The good part for Toyota is I am sure the development cost were minimal. New sheet metal (sort of), new interior, and they grabbed a parts bin Lexus car motor and tuned it a bit differently. Profits are all that matter for these companies. That sounds pretty cynical but I'm kinda hoping sales tank so Toyota wake the f*^k up. I think it is entirely possible for the GM twins to grab the mid-size crown again in the not-too-distant future.

It's down 1 % from last year so it means movement is slowed but they still moved 15k units... the twins together bumped up to 12,400 due to the incentives already mentioned.

Toyota already leads YTD almost 2 to 1 without incentives. How do you think the twins would do if GM didn't offer to pay you to buy them?

You guys are making mountains out of mole hills. Sales are still up 7% over last year

It's also been mentioned in another thread that the Tacoma production is at full limited capacity, making it rather hard to find and purchase.

The twins are also into their 2nd year of production on this redesign so all of those afraid of first year model issues are now buying the trucks they were waiting on.

Does that mean this time next year we'll see Tacoma sales boost up to almost 40% too?

I dunno, just cause this is a Tacoma forum doesn't mean people have to defend the integrity of the 3rd gen. A significant portion of people were let down by the changes and many people are having issues (which I don't need to elaborate on here). Not just flukes either. The Tacoma pages on Facebook are inundated with people complaining about trans issues and lack of power etc. Word gets around fast on the internet.

Based on the numbers, it doesn't seem to affect sales.

If anything, the midsized trucks are hurting full size truck sales.

It sucks because when news 1st came out that the 3rd gen was getting crawl control on the A/T, I was excited. Now the consensus on the forum is to dodge the A/T and for that matter Crawl control and get the M/T.
