IMO, life is short. Drive the vehicle you want to drive (obviously within your means)

Sounds like the OP can do a straight trade and get a cool truck out of it. Win Win.

I traded my 2014, 2 door wrangler for a 2016 tacoma...I was real scared I was gonna miss my jeep...until i pulled in and my OR was at the dealer. NEVER LOOKED BACK. love my double cab short bed, it squeaked in the beginning but the dealer greased up the Leaf springs no problems sense (2000 miles ago). I feel so much safer driving this truck compared to my jeep, it s much more stable, quieter and smoother. side note-paid cash for my 2012 jeep wrangler, dude fell asleep at the wheel and hit me head on, totaled it. I paid 26000 for it, and it had 12000 miles on it, insurance company gave me 25,800

The thing with a manual in traffic is you can't drive it the same way as an auto. You need to leave a gap and some people aren't willing to do that to preven lane jumping. So they make it hard on themselves by always staying on the ass of the car in front of them.

Yeah brother let's make the move that's a 3 inch lift with small 33s and makes my Jeep look blah. I'm rocking 35s and a 2.5 lift... It's got the same ground clearance as my jeep and way sexier to boot! image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Geesh jeep resale/trade in value is insane. I lowered my payment by $10 from my 2015 to 2016 but thats just because of a better interest rate. Trucks both cost about the same when I bought new after negotiating, but a great example of the price mark up, my 2015 TRD Sport 4WD Doublecab Longbed MSRP was just under $35k, my 2016 SR5 4WD Doublecab Longbed MSRP just over $35k. So ya they've gone up a bit in price.

They are giving me 36.5 for the jeep and it's got 12k on it. Bought it for 38 lol. Yeah trade is insane. Another reason I'm getting the taco. Better payments!

Tacomas have the highest resale value of any pickup. I bought my 2013 sport for $35k and sold it with 45k miles for $30k. That is pretty damn good. Not jeep good, but good.

Wasnt arguing that, just that Jeep resale is insane in comparison. On my 5th Tacoma so realize they hold their value.

    Another update:

No quicksands could be found. He can look as far as northern ohio (I'm in southeast TN), and there are none on any lots, being built, or scheduled to be built for several months that aren't already reserved or sold. Although I like the color, I like the magnetic grey almost as much. He was able to find two of those, one being built on the 13th, and one that is already built, but it reserved by someone else. At the latest I can get the first one by the end of July, and the earliest, if the reserved one falls through, I can get some time next week.

I've been reading these threads and I have to say, I'm a little concerned about the 2016. As stated here, many of the concerns are from people who don't have them, but there was one in particular about a guy who's shifter was getting stuck in 6th after several hundred miles on the interstate. I just don't want to be trading one unreliable vehicle for another.

I also checked to see if there were any used 14 or 15's with less than 10k miles on them with the same combination, short bed, double cab, OR, and 6 speed, and I couldn't find a single one anywhere for any less than the 16.

On a side note, and this is unrelated, does anyone know of any bedracks for the 16 similar to the allpro for the 2nd gens? or will that one fit the 16 as well?

From my reading on that thread there were a few folks mentioning that issue. But mine is flawless at 3500 mi like the great majority of manual 3rd gen owners that voted on that poll.
