I just got an email from Crutchfield saying they just lowered the price of the JL 10TW3-D4. It's down from $299.99 to $254.99. Here's a link

For an amp you will want to have 400w RMS @ 2 ohms.

Quality amps are ones that come certified and have a birth sheet stating what the max RMS wattage the amp can run clean.

I have a kicker cx600.1 that i will sell you for $100. Its certified and runs 600w RMS but you can set it to run only 400w RMS if you want. I can send you pictures of the birth sheet if you want.

I got a chance to spend some time with one of these last week. Cool sub & well built. Sounds good. All the pictures I'd seen of it make it look hokey & plasticky, but in your hands it's another matter. I think I prefer the SD3, but it's not truly a shallow sub either at 4 3/4". 3.25 inches mounting depth for the TW3 is pretty awesome.

I have the 13TW5V2 - and assuming that the only difference in JL's thin line is the power handling capabilities (and some minor and different low frequency limits), you would be very happy with the sound quality of that sub. If you go with that size, you could also install a second one later since there would still be space.

That said, my gripe with their thin line is that I believe their x-max specs are somewhat limited. Even if you feed it enough power, there will be some bass notes or frequencies (mostly during an overboosted rap song) where it 'feels' like there could or should be more oomph to the note, but it simply can't be achieved because its a thin sub... this might also have to do with resonant frequencies within the cab with windows up vs down. This normally isn't an issue with regular subs in a well made box, but its a constraint we need to work around.

    Misprint? $49.99 for a $599 sub?

I was wondering when someone was going to notice that...

Do you think we can get someone to price match? haha
