Just interpreting the numbers on the chart posted by the OP. It says Taco sales are up 7% over last year and total sales for the year are almost twice the amount of the GM twins.

That is true but as I said, the first few months of the gen 3 had huge sales then they went flat. I am pretty sure last month Tacoma sold less than the 2015 as well. It is just disappointing they could not sustain the surge in sales.

I think sales have leveled off because people that were in the market for the new truck bought and the rest might be waiting for the next model year. Remember, they still sold 15k trucks for the last month, more than twice the rest of the other manufacturers for that month.

Notice that GM fullsize trucks, both GMC and Chevrolet are down over the previous month (although Tundra is also down). Ford is waaay up. I wonder if there was a big push from GSA fleet purchases. Last year the mandate went out for a more fuel efficient GSA fleet.

I wonder what percentage of domestic sales are GSA fleet in general.. May have to dig that one up..

Do these results include fleet sales?

About the same... What do you think their offering 5k off? It has been fluctuating from $500 to nothing, not exactly a huge driving force in terms of money off. My dad recently bought a Canyon, checked for the last 6 months for any offers, I think he saw $1k off for a truck month or something but that was only if you financed through them at the dealer rate. They aren't discounting them much at all (compared to full sizes that is), probably just enough to sway some people who buy for price from a Tacoma.

The Frontier is surprising though, good for them. No doubt looks like there is room in the market for a few more competitors, maybe even some more that are smaller and fuel efficient on a uni-body chassis.

Right now I show GMC Canyon offering 0% financing for 60 months plus $1250 purchase bonus cash.

    http://www.gmc.com/current-offers.html?x-zipcode=23320

Chevy is 2.9% for 60 months and $500

I would just like to point out that for the full size the don't specify F-150...they claim the entire F-Series, which kind of blows the numbers out of proportions when you compare 1 truck (i.e.) tacoma, tundra, frontier, etc. to how many different F-Series are there????? the same can be said for all of the big three brands, there are multiple sizes of each brand.

Thats a good point. F-150 through 450 is common and then 550 through 750 are typically the large 6 wheeled trucks, like smaller dump trucks and atake bodies.

Didn't they have to shut down the factory temporarily awhile back? I think that might have had a effect on the sales of Trucks from Toyota.

yep, had to repair storm damage to the plant so production was suspended for a bit, not sure of the duration but that likely could have an effect on May and June sales.

I was just snooping in the coloradofans forum and I noticed GM customer service was reaching out to those posting about issues. Interesting.

I wonder how or if that's going to affect July / Aug sales numbers for the twins?

A year/year decrease in sales for two months in a row is not good in any business. Tacoma sales probably are not too significant for Toyota overall but still....

Coloradofans might be affiliated with GM?
