Also, Jon cut off #11 on the list. The Ridgeline sold almost 2,500 trucks, up from 7 yr/yr.

If that's true, it would extrapolate to 10,000 trucks/mo which would eclipse the Colorado sales. Not sure if Honda even has the plant capacity. My bet is those sales will come mostly from the other mid-sized trucks. The segment has become competitive again.

If you take looks out of the equation its a great truck.
Maybe theres a lot of people like me, after test driving the taco and seeing what a dog the 3.5 is and then reading all the issues they went and test drove the frontier and realized it wasnt as bad as they had thought it was. I would have one in my driveway if Nissan dealers were not the worst dealers i have ever seen when it comes to customer service.
It looks like it may go unchanged for one more year also, if so i may grab a 2017 6sp pro4x just to have a truck that hasnt been nerfed by the EPA, we'll see what jeep brings to the table though. Or even better maybe by then trump will be president and eliminate the EPA and allow consumers to buy what they want lol

Two months don't indicate a trend really.

I'm curious what the last five years, month to month look like. Are sales cyclical? Do they increase or decrease during the spring or summer months? Is there a spike in October when the new model year roles out?

A whole lot of variables to consider, more so than just a comparison from the previous month. When you look at the total trucks moved in the month or even the year, it still crushes the other three.

    Here's the previous year's data.
    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2015/07/best-selling-pickup-trucks-june-2015.html

Now you see that the Tacoma was selling more last year than they are this year. 2nd gen lovers will jump all over that but remember, the YTD number also includes single cabs and 5 lug trucks, both in AC and regular cab configs, something not available today.

Defensive much? I was referring to Tomwill who posts the same "3rd gen problems comment" in almost every thread. Sucks you have issues bud, I know they exist and they did before 2016 too, what baffles me is some of the crappy customer service you guys are getting.

I have to think owner reports and comments on the internet do have an affect on sales. People do research products they buy. I would not say the Tacoma launch has been perfectly rosey. Sure, they've sold quite a few, but how many sales have they lost? Are they increasing share or losing share?

You heard it here first. The moment the Ranger returns is the moment the Tacoma will lose it's crown. Before Ford let the Ranger wither on the vine it owned the title, and it will likely do so again.

I agree Ford will come out swinging, hopefully that brings continued improvements to the segment. I wouldn't hesitate buying a midsized ranger.

If they bring the technology and styling, as well as quad cab design that they run in Australia it will dominate the market. The hilux has been a real nice truck but the ranger is killing it over there. Not to mention it's a better looking truck then the current 3rd Gen taco

    Absolutely this.

They definitely lost a 2016 sale to me.

I have been lurking here for a while considering the new Tacoma, but after reading some of the issues I will not even consider a 2016.

Maybe a 2017 but even then I'll wait a while to see if some of the problems have been resolved.

While I understand that a new vehicle may have some teething problems, I can't see any excuse as to why vehicles come off the lot with low transmission fluid.

I've waited this long so a bit more waiting won't hurt me.

Also, if Ford puts the 2.7 Ecoboost into the Ranger, I am there.

If Toyota can't ship a transmission with proper fluid level in it should not be a problem at all.

I get that not all 3rd gen Tacomas are junk. But, c'mon, how can Toyota ship this many units with low fluid? How does that happen? It's obviously not a fluke. Still not a peep from Toyota? Maybe Toyota has such a steller reputation because they simply do not acknowledge issue and try to make the customer feel like they are crazy.

and if someone told you to jump off a cliff, would you? it's called "test drive" and see for yourself. I love my 2016 w/ no problems. There is a thread that reports that approximately 90% of 2016 Tacoma are happy with their new trucks with little/no problems. I'm just saying, don't listen to all the negative hype that Non-2016 Tacoma owners are yacking' about.
