True and the strongest survive in the end. It's called competition. This is not an ata boy for Toyota that's for sure. Seems like a national news story gets things going these days on issues like this. If it were a safety issue they would have been all over it. If my transmission craps, it will be the last Toy I ever buy knowing what led up to it.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that these dealers are all aware of the issue but continue to sell these trucks. Most without checking the fluid or warning customers of the issues they've been having.

    THIS is the BIGGIE.

You would think that someone at the dealership may occasionally check the forums here and realize that the transmission fluid level is a HUGE issue.

How could they not know something that is apparently so common in their product, and then STILL ship them out the door without at least checking it?

I would think the cost of a couple of bottles of transmission fluid would be easily compensated by not having pissed off customers.

Why do I get the feeling that the transmission will be the achilles heel for the 3rd generation ???

I've been lurking here a good bit and it seems like a LOT of these problems could have at least been lessened by the dealer spending an additional 30 minutes checking things before delivery.

How much trouble is it to squirt some grease into the zerk fittings?

See if the bolts are tight on the rear leaf springs?

That and checking the ATF seems to be the first thing that most of these trucks are having to go back to the dealer for.

Edit: Now that I read what I just wrote, why in the devil would any of this stuff need to be checked from the manufacturer?

Toyota needs to up their game because when more players hit the midsize category, they will get wiped if they don't straighten this out.

I'll be honest. Once they filled it, and I out on another 2k miles on it, it's not terrible. I'm eager for a ecm update to smooth it out and fix cruise control, but the tranny is doing okay now.

I'm still not sure it isn't partly the engines fault.

Lot of critical issues for this new 3rd gen. I am questioning my purchase now. Don't even know for sure if I would buy a 2017 at this point. Kinda po'd. I really think this tranny will turn out to be a pos. Time will tell.

Agreed. Looks like I might be keeping my 2013 for longer than planned.

Well when you can't fill a tranny fluid level properly, btw i did when I was age 15, can't check a u joint for grease, nor make sure the leaf springs are torqued properly on a $37,000 new delivered truck, and not get back with the customer, what do you expect ???????

Who the hell knows what else is wrong we don't know about...yet ???

Thank god there are people in here that look at these things.

It looks like I did well by accepting the 8yr/100k platinum instead of a full refund. Hopefully the T-SB-0077-16 fixes the issues.
