I did test drive one with an A/T. I wasn't thrilled about the lack of low end power. The test drive wasn't long enough to draw a convincing conclusion about the tranny.

The Tacoma plants are reportedly operating at full capacity. Hard to deliver more trucks than what they can actually make ....

According to the article that Jon posted from they are reducing Tundras built and increasing Tacomas.

Toyota continues to struggle with Tacoma sales down for the second straight month. Tundra sales are also down, but we know those numbers will likely be lower than 2015 numbers because Toyota is pushing extra Tacoma production at the San Antonio plant where both pickups are produced.

And they sold around 18,000 units in March and April. So has the capacity decreased? I don't own stock in Toyota so none of this impacts me personally. I'm just a bit of a geek about this stuff.

Hard to say the reasons for the slow down but closing the Texas plant for a bit likely affected availability, the upcoming elections and how they will affect the economy, people waiting to see how the redesigned Ridgeline, Ranger and possible Jeep truck will be received .

Is there a published number for "weeks of available inventory" for Tacoma? In addition to sales numbers it would be of interest to know if inventory was increasing or declining?

.....and dealers have barely any Tacoma inventory.

The twins are extremely uncomfortable to get in and out of. You have to be careful not to injure yourself on the plastic on the side of the seats.

I'm not going to get drawn in on whether the 3rd gen is a turd. I do not own one. So I can't say. But I do know negativity spreads like wildfire on the net....making things seem bigger than they really are.

That said.....does it really matter whether Toyota is #1 in midsize truck sales? I certainly wouldn't care whether the vehicle I'm buying is the "best selling". I guess you could argue about resale values or something like that. But really.....who cares whether GM or anyone for that matter sells the most trucks? :notsure:

I ain't gonna lie, dealer next to me is advertising 7k off msrp on loaded pro4X. It seems to have most things a fully loaded DCSB OR has except older and cheaper. Never mind the fully adjustable leather seats. If it weren't for the horrendous MPG, decade old chassis/interior and the fact that I would have the grass is greener thoughts when seeing a Taco drive by my financial side would probably win this internal argument. (not that any vehicle outside a beater is really a good investment)

Still, I wouldn't blame anyone who went the other direction. At MSRP the Nissan is a joke, but if you could get it at 28/29k OTD the value becomes pretty undeniable (never mind the aggressive factory rebates). Still, I have jumped the gun in the past, and figure its better to wait and see whats up with the 2017 Tacos while saving up to get what I really want.

As long as you keep it. 'Cause there will be no residual valve.

True, most vehicles are depreciating assets though. Just some are better than others. (Like the Tacoma)
The Tacoma's crazy resale is one of the reasons I am looking to buy new. I see the (lightly) used prices and wonder what would be the point.

Fair enough....and I'm sure I would feel the same way if my '15 was the same. That said....it's a vehicle. Regardless of how strongly we may feel about our trucks....at the end of the day it's an appliance. It does not and should not define who we are or cause of emotional grief. Take that well-known Toyota resale value and consider another truck. I'm not being a dick....I'm being serious.

I don't like my Taco because I own it. I own it because I like it. The moment that ceases to exist I will either turn off the emotion and see it strictly as the appliance that it is and continue to drive it.....or I'll get rid of it and get something else.
