Happy holiday weekend everyone. It's HOT and I'm in the middle of a lot of yardwork .... getting too old for this!

Our Quack recommended BIOFREEZE. The wife is convinced it works. She talked me into trying it a couple of times, but I honestly don't think it did anything for me. Perhaps my skin is thicker than hers.

    Be safe out there.

It's hot here and I'm getting ready to head out to do yard work.... don't really want to, but, grass is getting tall. Might just paint the dirt green.....

To relax, I went camping again, otherwise I'd a been working in the yard, took my dirt bike and put about 50 miles on it in two days of riding, only flopped over once, found a small lake that does not show on a map, but there is a Baptist church camp there. My neighbor was going to take their camper out, they were not too prepared, the battery for it had cycled too many times :), sounds about normal for them, ill prepared, waiting till the last minute.
Some folks showed up late yesterday afternoon where I and about three other campsites were being used, told them I was leaving early Sunday, they could have my site then and campfires were allowed where there was a steel campfire ring. I noticed that evening a flicker of a campfire going where their family set up a tent. Dum ass people, the forest in this area has gone to Stage 1 fire restrictions, only campfires in campground's where they have the steel firerings, Stage II is where you can only have them where there is a campground host. There is a forest fire close to Interstate 80, maybe 60 to 70 miles as a crow flies away, you could smell the smoke the last two mornings in the campground I was in.
Have a happy 4th y'all, I'm Bar-B-Qing some pork ribs, along with corn on the cob and fresh peas from the garden.

Just reading the short, online version of our small town rag/newspaper, 'Feather River Bull-etin'. Our local community college's mens rodeo team took the National College Rodeo Championship with the most points ever by a team, 1,000. Cool. There are around 5,000 people in town, cattle in the county out number people surprisinly. This is Kalifornia?

Congratulations to the team. That is really impressive when you think of all of the schools in Texas and Oklahoma competing. Some very good teams in other states also. Quite an accomplishment.

Thank you guys. What may help attract cowboys and cowgirls is the equine program, Packstation Management. The college has bought surrounding property and pastures horses there, has some nice facilities, big hay barn. Some bigger colleges in CA for the school to compete against to get to the finals. A couple years ago, Yahoo or someone, named Quincy as the best small town in the USA. Still some empty buildings in the business district, all three or four blocks. Quite a artistic group of people live in the county too. I live about 9 miles from town.

I wonder what college that might be? I do have an empty stable here at the farm. :turtleride:

I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th! We have our son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandkids here with us for the week. Brought my mom over for lunch, went to friends for cookout in the evening and the drove to a local park to watch fireworks. A perfect day!
