I decided to get the stock wheels and tires dirty before the upgrade. Tackled most of Rocky Gap Road with a stock OR. Went all the way to the rock garden before turning back. I need under protection and sliders before I proceed further.

Speed or equipment finesse, your choice and sometimes it dont matter what you got your gonna get stuck....
In this case if you gave it all your horsepower and had some speed you might have made it....my quick assessment,,,,
Balls to the wall grind it out if you might get stuck, dont get stuck for lack of pedal to the metal and driving skill ...which only makes me ask why not to the high side and show some horsepower?

Agreed...I went in too slow. To be honest, I didn't think it was that deep. Had I went in faster, I might have hopped over the hump I got hung up on and could have pulled out. Oh well, lesson learned. My next offroad accessory purchase will most likely be a set of waders so I can check depth and bed before driving in.

Took a trip out to Soldier Meadows Ranch in the Black Rock Desert, about 60 miles outside of Gerlach, NV. The area is awesome with the dry lake bed spanning close to 60 miles, natural hot springs and an abundance of wildlife. We stayed one night then came back to the California side to finish out camping at Sawmill Lake, just above Bowman Lake. Besides the mutant mosquitos we had a great time!

On Soldier Meadows Road leading to the ranch. The Pronghorn Antelope were awesome to see.

If you've never been to Scheel's, you're going to want to go. It's in Sparks, NV, just outside of Reno and is the size of a BassPro Shops, Cabela's and Sportsman's Warehouse rolled into one! Picked up the new Yeti 75 and some accessories for it. Great cooler, so far!

Pyramid Lake off in the distance as we make our way to the Black Rock Desert.

My leaking rotopax left this rad design on the bottom of my tailgate (don't worry, it washed off just fine).
    image.jpg

Our camp setup at Sawmill Lake, just as the mosquitos started swarming. These things were the size of Terrydactyl's and I've counted up to 22 bites so far.

Where you in 4L? Did you lockup and try to crawl out? How did you get out?

Nice! Yeah for whatever reason I thought it looked rad. Like mountains with palm trees or some craziness.

Haha yeah, that damn dodge made it all the way. And he owns a 4Runner too :annoyed:

Yeah, 4L and locked. I think I bottomed out...all wheels just sat there and spun. I crawled out of the window and tossed my recovery strap to a friend who was being me.

Did the locker prevent you from going faster? I thought I read some where that the locker topped out at 3mph. Is that true?

You can do 100mph locked if you really wanted to, but in order to actually engage and disengage the locker you must be going less than 3-5 mph.

Edit: Technically that's not true because 4L tops out at 60mph...but if you engaged the locker in 4H or 2wd then you could.
