Those jaw horses are handy. I love mine.

I made a work table that I can clamp into it out of some 2x4's I had laying around.

I am going to sell my cap and bedslide. I dont like the look of the cap, function is great. Lose too much space with the bedslide. Will look for a hard trifold cover. Plus i cant see shit with the cap. Will probably list on CL cap starting at 500 and see, bedslide start at 400 and see. TW discount if anyone interested.

It'll be a while before Basketcase is ready to do anything. Believe me the name is appropriate.

    Here's the deal:

I saw it on Facebook for cheap, the owner lived in Tennessee. I talked to him about it, decided I wanted it and offered to buy it. He said he would trailer it down for me. He said he'd been daily driving it and it was in good shape blah blah

I got financing and solidified the plan

He brought it down last night. It was dark as fuck, I'd already decided I wanted it from pictures he sent. He gave me a talk about what worked and what didn't, most of which was bullshit I found out later. But I gave him the check and he was gone

Supposedly on his was here, about 2 hrs out, his trailer got a flat, so he chained up the axle, unloaded Basketcase and drove it the rest of the way

He was driving it when it pulled into my driveway. If he drove it for 2hrs he's an IDIOT.

The brakes pretty much do nothing. There is no ebrake, he cut the cables off at the rear spring mount

The fabrication is horrible. Things hit eachother. Mounts are made wrong and poorly welded to rusty bits of nothing. The trans crossmember is hacked up to clear the links, which are too long, and the front driveshaft. The crossmember is also cracked.

The rear suspension looks stock except for a relocated shock tab on the axle and a piece of 2x2 square tubing thats used as a lift block.

The front CO's are old junk thats been painted

    All the welds are crap

Most importantly. The frame is a rusty mess. This is an 05 after all. No holes but definitely flakey. Probably would have gotten a free frame replacement if he'd just taken it to Toyota

    BUT

It was pretty cheap. Most the components I need are there and the stuff that needs replacing is at the upper end of my budget, but still within reach. Most importantly Eddy has my back on this one and if anyone can save it Eddy can

    So here's whats gonna happen

I listed it for sale and if anyone wants to give me what I owe they can have it. I have the title right now but I have to mail it to the bank in about a week. If they can buy it before then I can pay off the loan and they can have it

    If not:

I'm pulling the bed and the cab off. Medial blasting the frame. Grinding, cutting plating and reinforcing ever bit of rust damage
rebuilding the front suspension so it isn't a complete cluster fuck, building new crossmembers ect. Swapping in a set of Chevy 63" springs and new rear shocks and coilovers up front.

If I can, I'm going to rent a storage unit in the same complex as Eddys shop so I can strip it and blast it. Then we can roll it over to him for unfucking. If not I'll be building some redneck shit in the back yard of my house (rental) and pulling the bed and cab there, blasting it, then have a rollback wrecker take it to him and bring it back.

I got screwed in the deal, but I also think the dude that sold it to me figured I wouldn't be able to fix it. He was partially correct...but I know a guy :)

So here it is, meet Basketcase, appropriately named:

Sam drove 95% of the time at gulches and she did great. Can't wait till we go to URE. I do need my 700# coils swapped in before that trip though. Hopefully I'll have time to squeeze it in before then. Also got some good battle scares

    I owe $13,500

You'd have to talk to Eddy about the quote to unfuck it

My goal was to have a second truck that was huge and SASed for around the same money I would spend to SAS mine. I think that goal is still attainable
