Just get the Tacoma. Nuff said.

Owned Fords in the past, nothing but problems. Junk.

For the last 5+ years and 129,000 miles my truck has been kicking Chevy, Dodge and Ford truck asses all day. Every day.

I had a 2002 S10 with 251,000+ miles when I sold it. Still see it on the road. Good little truck.

no issues with my midsized Tacoma 2016. But comparing it to a full size F-150 ??? come on! You seriously need to consider your needs before you decide to buy a truck.

So a friends dad bought a SR5 (I think that's what it was) couple of weeks ago looks cool seems to have everything except leather and electric seats. Anyway IMO its pimp I really liked it. He then let me drive it. Has 377 miles on it. WTF is the big BANG, clunk going from first to second . This is an automatic. Its like right when you take off the tranny takes a dump. They are taking it in this coming up week. Other then that I loved it. Would fit me perfect for what I want/needs. I think I will wait a few+ for the 17. Liked it a whole lot

    First, hello to all.
Yesterday was happiest day in quite some time. Took delivery of my '16 sr5. My outgoing '02 f150 v6 is limping on its last legs and I am hoping to put her out of her misery sometime today or tomorrow.

    F150 v6 reliability-

o2 leak at 40,000 from known plenum leak. Gave it 2 shots at the shop before decided I was wasting money. o2 leak still exists to this day. Only question for ford is if it was a known issue, why not find a fix?
    Oil leak
A/C at 100,000. Native floridian so I can live with heat.
unknown surge at rest. Treated her like a manual and just threw it into neutral at stoplights.
At this point the code checker lights up like a Christmas tree. Given it's 2300.00 Kbb value, just not worth dropping anymore coin on it.

In all I can't complain. The ford has trailered my little flats boat all over Florida and other than the o2 mystery and the new surging problem, she served me fairly well.

Comparing the f150 to the tacoma as others have mentioned I guess would be unfair. I parked the tacoma next to my f150 last night and it was a bit like David and Goliath. In retrospect I would NOT repeat the error of a full size truck with a v6.

    Reasons for tacoma
    1. Reliability-My first car was a Camry. I literally tortured that car and still resold for a nice chunk of change!
    2. Styling. No more rolling brick.
    3. I don't really need a full size.

Whatever you decide I hope the actual buying process goes well for you. It was a true nightmare trying to price this vehicle. The truck I wanted-sr5 v6, Appearance pack (wheels, mirror and over fender) DBL CAB, tow pack seemed to be an elusive beast here in south florida. Everything was "sea stock". The price ranged from 35,000(needed that good laugh)-30800 out the door. I hope I did ok with the 30,8 out door. 35+seems more like TRD pricing. Problem with my area is the export to south america and folks paying sticker ++++as the money is there.

    Best of luck.

It was available in a manual and l have always like the Tacoma..Saw the the 3gn and knew I had to have it. But for what's it worth I think most trucks regardless of make will give you 200k with proper maintenance...jmho

For those of us at shopping at the low end, there is about a $6K difference between the F150 and the Taco. If Ford had an updated Ranger, I would have looked at it. My '94 Ranger was the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.

OK, but tell me what Ford in the general price and option range ever had a resale value of 12-14K being 10 years old. If you ever decided to get a new one.

If you are apprehensive about the 16, wait a year or two for Toyota to work out the bugs. The other option is to get a 15. That's the route I would go.
