Yes, I had the same wheel and tire combo prior to putting the coilovers on.

I think in the back of the fender liner. I really haven't checked for sure yet.

^^^ That = not enough negative offset - I have the same size tires with -6 offset and no rub..

I'm so glad you made this post, I just ordered some Method Roost wheels and was planning on going with the same size tire. Now I haven't decided whether or not to lift or go with a smaller tire.

No problem. Thats exactly why I posted it, just in case someone else was looking at the "same" setup and what to expect.

    Someone help me out here?
Are we talking rim width or wheel width here?

    Stock is 7.5" wide, +30mm offset=4.75" backspacing.
    His are 8.5" wide, 0 offset=4.25" backspacing.
    Yours are 8.5" wide, -6mm offset=4" backspace.

Had I used rim width, backspacing would be increased 1/4"; assuming wheel width is typically, rim width + 1/2"?

Basically, does OP's wheels have 4.25" or 4.5" backspacing?

I'm running 265/70/17 Mamba M14 17x9 -12 Et and they rubbed like crazy at stock height. It's the offset of the rim that causes mine to rub on the inner fenders front and rear, I cut most of it out and modified my front mudflaps and it got rid of 95% of the rubbing. Now it's only rubbing at full lock with additional weight (passengers) or if I'm cranked and I hit a bump like pulling in my driveway.

I've been waiting for almost 3 months for my 3" lift to arrive which will hopefully get rid of all of the rubbing. If not, it was a risk I was willing to take when I decided to go with 9" rims and the -12 offset to get 265's to stick out a little.

I will suggest switching to the Husky front flaps, their design is slightly better than the factory flaps and doesn't rub as bad. I still had to trim mine further, but it was a def improvement over stock. They're also shorter so you don't bash them every time you pull into a driveway.

Split- chatting with you on another similar thread... I've got my wheels/ tires narrowed down and am interested in finding out if I'll have rub issues, and what offset to get to minimize that chance. You linked a rim and tire size calculator that seemed to help. Looking at the Ultra Mongoose 178 17x9. Looking to match with Falken Wildpeak's 265/70R17. I have stock '17 TRD Sport w/ 265/65R17's (7.5" rim, 30 offset). My question becomes this... looking under my front end, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of room between the tire and suspension parts (visually less than the UCA). The offsets offered in that rim are 1, 12 and 25, so basically 1 would be out b/c it would push em too far out and there'd definitely be fender issues. What's the best option between the 12 and 25's? My understanding is that the 12's will have a 1/2" more of BS than stock, and the 25's will have 3/4" more of BS. 12's will stick out 3/4" further than stock, and 25's will stick out 1/4" more than stock. What I don't know besides how it will look in terms of sticking out from stock, is what will have less clearance issues on fender/ UCA/ suspension parts? I'd like to NOT go way wider than stock, as I'd be worried about mud and rocks getting thrown up against the side of my truck like my old nissan did with a much wider stance... is 3/4 a lot in the real world? Seems negligible with a ruler in front of my face... Thoughts??

    Stock rim has 5.5" backspace.
17x9 et+1mm has 5" bs, tire will poke 29mm, wheel will poke 48mm
17x9 et +12mm has 5.5" bs, tire will poke 18mm, wheel will poke 37mm
17x9 et +25mm has 6"bs, tire will poke 5mm, wheel will poke 24mm

ET +25mm is out; too much backspace.
ET +12mm is your best bet; same backspace as stock and minimal poke.

Just talked with a local shop and he thinks going with a larger tire (265/70r17) and a 17x9 wheel, he doesn't think ANY combination of backspacing will "safely" work. Wasn't as concerned about the backspacing causing rubbing on UCA's or suspension parts in the back, but mainly fender rubbing issues. Kinda killed my mod mojo! Does he have a point to some degree? I'd hate to spend all the money on new tires and rims and have rubbing that can't be fixed besides a lift (although that, in an ideal world, would also be in the future - 2" or less, as well). Now if it's just rubbing from some serious offroading loading under full travel, I'm not to worried, but I don't want rubbing from cornering hard on the freeway offramp! What to do....

Did you look where you're rubbing?

I have duratrac in same size on a 0 offset wheel and I was rubbing on the front mud flap that's all. Remove them and you're fine. Or remove them and still do lift cause you're clearly just trying to justify a lift lol

You have 265/70r17 on a 17x9 wheel with stock suspension? If so, that's encouraging to hear... You're probably ultimately right about the lift, but I don't really want to!:)

BTW - I found a member on here that has those rims at least... Again being new, I'm not aware of any direct messaging to try and contact him for info. WE have an inbox, but how do I send him a message?

What is the width of your method wheels? The TRD Pro wheel is +4mm and the methods are 0mm. TRD Pro wheel is 17x7. I don't think the 4mm difference is the cause. Most likely it is the width of the merhod rim. Anyone else agree?

I've only rubbed a few time while wheeling the truck fairly hard on trails. Didn't sound too bad, and I'm pretty sure it was the cab mount. No big chunks missing from the tires, but a CMC is my next mod. I'm on 17x8.5, 0 offset with the 265/70r17 KO2's.
