I wouldnt tow that without using a WD hitch...I have almost the same exact camper
If u ever need to swerve to avoid an accident the wd hitch makes the rig feel as one. It will be a better safer towing experience using a good WD hitch. Im using the fastway e2 and I love it! Very easy to hook and unhook, and u can use it in reverse. $299 on etrailer for the #800 setup.

Here is a pic of my tacoma with my new sportsman toy hauler using the fastway e2 hitch. My truck is sitting fairy level...Im not using any suspension upgrades accept I had the leaf tsb done. Dry hitch weight is 420# ,Dry weight 2600#
all loaded up last weekend camp we were probably had 400# gear so were at 3,000 ready to camp. I can feel the trailer back their for sure but it tows very nicely...On 50mph or under roads,I keep tacoma in 4th gear

Your gonna have wind resistance no matter what with towing these box shaped campers. Just take it slow and steady

    Dry Hitch Weight - 400
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating - 3500

I have read a lot but just want to have a second opinion on this. Thank you

Probably. A little more info on the towing vehicle. Also check out the towing section of the forum.

I have read a ton of the threads on the towing section. It seems like everyone has a different thought on what is safe to tow. I would be using a WD hitch as well as breaks.

    Here is the towing vehicle

    Thanks!

Assuming you have the towing package, you're ok. If you don't have any towing experience, do short trips at first. Use 4th gear.

I checked and do have the transmission cooler so confirmed the towing package. I use to tow a motorcycle trailer all the time with my 2009 DCLB sport but it was much lighter.

I'm also at altitude...and most of my camping is around 10,000 feet...assuming I will have to stay around 50-55mph on the inclines.

check you TIRE capacity on the camper before you go with a weight distributing hitch, if you're close to tire capacity on the camper tires, you may well over load them with WDH

Yes, the hitch puts weight forward thru the frame to the front axle of the truck, but it also does the same thru the camper frame to the tire.

My Flagstaff 625D popup weighs in at 3480 fully loaded on the road, 400b tongue. I had to go to larger wheels and tires to get into a safe tire capacity from what the factory tires were. ( 3220 tire cap with 175/80r13 LR D radials ) currently running 185R14 LR D radials and have 3728 lb capacity on tires

I do use air bags on rear axle, the Tacoma handles it very well. ran same setup on my 3rd gen 4Runner which also did well.

I have 15" tires on my sportsman classic...another reason I went for the 19 over the 17 toy hauler
Lots more ground clearance to lay under the trailer and to clear things like the ramp to put our rig on the ferry

My 2007 Tacoma with tow package is pulling a Prowler Lynx 22LX. I have a weight distribution hitch sway bar and brake controller. The dry weight is 4300 lbs and the tongue weight is 524 lbs. My Tacoma tows this well. So far I've just been making short trips braking and hills haven't been a problem. Later this month I'll be making a longer trip from Arkansas to the Georgia coast.

Went camping two weeks ago and stopped at the scale to get the actual axle weights on the way home. Front axle was 2530 lbs, rear was 2992 and the trailer was 4180. We have a 2015 DCSB TRD Sport (with towing package) and tow a 2007 Trail Cruiser 23QB. We use an Eaz-Lift weight distribution hitch, Tekonsha P2 brake controller, and Firestone Ride-Rite airbags. GVWR on the trailer is 5200 or so. This is a pic from our last trip...just a bit rainy!
