Seems you dwell on Fuelly without understanding it.

    That's a fact.

And the average isn't the only fact found on Fuelly, Einstein.

    No point indeed.

Several years of the 2nd gen had over 18mpg average as well. Not a significant improvement overall for the 3rd gen. Consider they had 10 years to figure it out

You're ignorant as heck, have you ever thought that a high ground clearance vehicle with inherent structure will reach a pinnacle of fuel efficiency from a gas engine? "Figure it out" like make it into a ridge line with car aeros and no ground clearance? It beats my 2.7 consistently by 1 mpg, they did everything they could without losing off-road capabilities. Oh, and several usually means more than 1.....

If I drive like a grandma I can get 24 mpg when I want to. Sometimes I do this, but usually, I don't. Normal driving = average of 19.5 mpg (mostly town driving). I also have the tonneau cover

Yep Several years of the 4.0 average within 1mpg of the third gen 3.5L. So you're telling me 1 mpg increase average is a significant improvement? o_O

This was driving into Chicago from 30 miles out. Speed limit is about 65. So keeping it in S6 for most of the drive at 1.5krpm. Trip economy was actually in the 28s

Here has been my Average MPG in Southern California (87 octane) with a
    2010 4 door (double cab) 4.0 V-6 Automatic 4WD (Off Road TRD)
the past 6.5 years (86,000 miles):

    14-15 City
    15-16 Mixed
    17-18 Highway
19-20.5 RARE! (Highway trips to Arizona or in Baja with Mexican/ ethanol-free gasoline)

Using Premium (91 octane) made no improvement the couple long distance, and city driving tests with it.

Seeing a computer created MPG figure is not blowing up my skirt. How about the number of real gallons it takes to fill up and the miles driven since the previous fill up?

We did 130 miles driving from Glendale to Santa Clarita to Apple Valley. Speeds were between 55-65 uphill and 55 on most of the highways behind the San Gabriels. We had a land cruiser that was slowing us down going up the hills...

Then we did 45 miles of Fire roads and narrow, rocky trails from the valley floor (2400 feet) to Big Bear (7000 feet) and then around the trails on top. I'd say 30 of the miles were at 10-20mph fire roads; the rest were slow and rocky and rutty. Truck idled for an hour while we stopped a few times other than turning it off once for lunch.

Then aired up and drove down the hill on pavement and all the home for 75 miles.

20.8 mpg for the day. I thought that was really good for all that slow off roading and idling. But the 55mph highway speed limits helped, as well. I believe @odinsbro15 got 19.4mpg in his 2016 4x2 OR

That sounds great... Driving at 55 will indeed give 20 mpg for us V-6 automatics... but on a freeway will get you rear ended by a semi! LOL

You can use your fuel gauge & trip odometer to monitor consumption rate:
    At the 3/4 tank line:
    80 miles = 16 mpg/ 85 miles = 17 mpg/ 90 miles = 18 mpg/ 95 miles = 19 mpg/ 100 miles = 20 mpg
You have consumed 5 gallons from fill up when the needle is at the 3/4 tank line.

Haha, don't be that guy! Computer created MPG is fine with me. I'm not here to impress anyone. Figure I would join the thread and post up a pic.

No worries... but it will be great if you do back up the computer with the actual MPG you got. Thanks and Happy 4th!

I just filled up for the first time. Mostly in town but a trip to the lake through the Missouri hills, 19.3 mpg. The digital readout showed 20.5.
