    Want some opinions...

I'm considering getting new suspension, and have set myself a budget of ~$2k USD shipped (to a US address) for all parts.

    I want:
    - 2-3" of lift front and back, above and beyond the OEM setup (1" lift over 2nd gen)
    - keeping/improving street comfort, minimizing body dive during breaking, improving off-road performance; am I dreaming too much here?
    - UCAs (either LR or TCF?)
    - diff drop, swaybar relocation brackets, etc. - everything that's needed to do things "right" and maintain drivetrain angles as close to stock as possible
    - adjustable coilovers would be wicked
    - ability to rebuild shocks would be a big plus for long-term ownership

The truck is a 4x4 DCLB with a shell (150-200lbs). I've got sliders on order (50-70lbs), bed slide on order (70-100lbs), and will always have at least 50-60lbs of gear in the back. So give or take 320-430lbs of extras over stock weight, plus the dog and I (~250lbs) in the interior.

Tires will remain as they are: 265/70/17 KO2.

I've no plans to install either an aftermarket front bumper nor winch. I may do a front hitch and aftermarket rear bumper w/ tire swing out in the future. Roof racks for both the cab and the shell may also be on the distant horizon.

I will not be doing rock crawling or any crazy off roading. Forest service roads, river beds, no-deeper than knee-high water crossings, the occasional one-off obstacle.

I'm mostly looking at two starting points: Bilstein 5100s or OME Nitrochargers. I like that the 5100s are adjustable, but my understanding is that they shouldn't be used with the OME Dakar leaf pack (which I want), but rather with one of the add-a-leaf kits.

What would you run in my case? The more details the better.

Personally, I'm a fan of OME. The ride is a bit more harsh than say Icon's, Fox or Kings but with your budget and what you're looking at doing OME is a good option. I had 5100's and OME coils on my 2003 Tacoma when I had it and I wasn't to impressed with them and later opted for the Nitrochargers.

How much of a difference is there between "mid-tier" suspension like Bilstein/OME, and "high-tier" like ICON/King/Fox? I could stretch to $3k for something like the Icon Stage 3 if it's really worth the money, but I don't want to drop the extra $1k if it's mostly butt-dyno differences and bragging rights.

And am I correct in understanding that the above Icon Stage 3 does not have any diff drop/swaybar relocation/etc. items included?

I've never ran Icon's or anything along those lines. I've only ran Bilstein's and OME's on my Tacoma and 4Runner. I liked the feel of OME and I thought the pairing of them and the 4Runner Trail with KDSS was a good combination. Really cured the nose dive that was peeve lant with the stock suspension on the 4Runner and even driving through the mountains on I5 between Redding CA and Central Oregon, she felt solid enough in the curves (for a SUV with 33's it handled fairly well).

    Gotcha. Thanks.

$2355.80 for Stage 4 shipped to WA. Awesome.

What else do I need to do things right with this kit?

Yeah. You can't really compare the two. If you have the money go the premium route with the icon

What is the benefit of the Billett vs Tubular UCAs? And is there any advantage to having the reservoirs on front and back? Looking through the Icon stages, it looks like each set gets bigger. What makes one stage better than another? Looking for similar reasons as OP, fire roads, some light mud, no rocks. Looking for about 2" to clear a little larger tire than stock. Very new to mods in general. Thanks in advance.
