there is no denying powder coating is a tuff and durable finish the video was interesting i knew it was flexible but not that flexible. i agree with you 100% that industrial applications are no doubt prepped in a manner that is not beneficial to the quality of the product as you stated they are only worried about mass producing and $. i am also sure that the work a shop like yours produces as compared to a production shop is the equivalent to us doing production industrial work and me doing custom work. much more time is spent prepping than working with product. i didn't mean to get under your skin there i've just seen it fail too many times in industrial applications. after your explanation it would make since why. i've been doing this crap for 30 years and see i can still learn stuff

Thanks! When I put it on I was afraid the Taco's mustache might offend lol. I guess I'll find out if there's a big scratch in the side one day.

I knew it was ALMOST time to change oil....so on the way home I was stopping @ Advance Auto to grab 6 quarts of Pennzoil 5W-30 and a filter. Just as I turned in their parking lot, the maint req light came on. So.....Home, and under the truck. Oil changed in minutes. Gonna grease the driveshaft as soon as I eat dinner the wife has prepared! Then it's lazy time!

    That is all...

My mistake if I seamed snappy. It just gets old after a while people comparing custom work to industrial work. The line shops have done the industry a HUGE disservice. While it is still obvious it is better than paint, the majority of the consumers have no idea how strong this stuff actual is when done right. Unfortunately with people always going by price point they never actually see that the coating is supposed to look like either.

My guess is most of what you see is semi gloss black. Most of what other consumers see is flat black, gloss black, and red. What none of you guys notice is the orange peel in most finishes. Its extremely common in the industrial sector and the "professionals" working out of a garage. That is a tell tale sign of TOO much powder or it being undercured. In most cases its actually both. Because of shops like that you guys never get to see all the possibilities and what the finish SHOULD look like. Here are a couple examples of what you should be seeing in a finish and what you shouldn't be seeing.

Few things most had no idea even existed or could be custom made. (all pieces I have done, some are colors I make in house)

    Multi sized chameleon flake
    [IMG]

In house blended chameleon pigment. The entire gun is billet aluminum, the top is plastic. Also powder coated

What gloss black SHOULD look liked

Can even two tone pieces, this happens to be ceramic

i've had some exspensive competition bows that were powder coated and they all had orange peel i guess that's why they switched to anodizing. personally i preffered the pc because of the range of colors and mettalics. you do really pretty work i've got to cut and rub my paint to get it that slick
