    ...^^^... I had a 1965 GTO ... HardTop (no post) ... 389 ... 4 bbl ... 335 hp ... 323 rear ... 3 speed in the floor ... no A/C ... cheapest GTO you could buy.

    Changed it to 3x2's and then to 2x4's (no cam change) and a 390 rear and it was crazy to burn tires with a 3 speed. Automatics back then I think were 2 speed. Mine was a weird Turquoise (greenish-blue) color. (biggest mistake was trading whole rear with a 1964 GTO to get a 390)

    I should have kept that car forever and kept it stock ... but it was my crazy days and I hit a telephone pole with it.

    While certainly not a 'show piece', you'll have to admit it's interesting. Especially since I found it wandering on a side street in Havana (yes, Cuba) last week.

    Loving the fender skirt and gas door locks. And rear quarter patch panels. But hey, still in service as a taxi!

    If the car is a convertible, it likely has either an original motor or a period correct replacement motor. IE still American, still gas, proper brand, etc. Couldn't get anyone to answer about transmissions and differentials, although it's pretty likely they've been replaced with whatever they could make fit. All the non-convertible models have been retrofitted with more 'modern' (relatively speaking) drivelines and about 99% are small diesels. From what we understand, most all these oldies function as Taxis to help out the inadequate public transport system. All are licensed and run specific routes. So when you go to other parts of the city, you see different cars. The port - waterfront seems to be given to the best kept models. Putting on a good face for the turistos!
