Best Tires for a Daily Driver

265 with a completely stock setup, but don't forget to consider the aspect ratio as well, a taller tire can rub too, you could probably get a phat tire under yet truck but it would need to be a lower profile

 

Gotcha. I like the look of the wider tires. Had that on my previous ride, which was a Charger. So 265 with the stock setup. What size profile would be good?

 

265/70/16 is what the OR is speced with

Charger? That's a completely different animal with whole nother job description. SRT8, biggas sedans are not supposed to do what that beast can.

3 weeks ago when I bought the truck it had Stock 18s on 265/60/18 Firestone Destination LE2s

I've had the Hankooks before, love them. The LE2s rode nice and had a nice look

 

I have the 17 inch wheels and I plan on keeping them. I actually like the look. What would the spec be then for a wider tire that won't rub with the stock suspension?

 

What do you have on it now, size?

Also in my experience 2 different brand tires but same size may have slight differences.
BFG KO2s vs my Hankooks, BFGs are a bit wider.

 

I have the Firestone destination LEs sitting on 265/65/17

 

265/65/17- 30.6x10.4
275/65/17- 31.1x10.8
285/65/17- 31.6x11.2

Just my .02 if you're looking for wider.

With the 285 you may want to consider a wider wheel with less back spacing than the stock sport wheel.

 

What size would that be then with the 285.

 

8-8.5" with 4-4.5" back spacing would do the trick

gonna depend on the weight of the tire and wheel combination, if you go with a P or C rated tire they're gonna be lighter than an E rated

 

I got a great deal on a set of Michelin M/S2s and I use them for commuting. They are 265/70r17 which are bigger than stock and I am averaging 19.6 mpg and I drive into NYC everyday. I drive in blizzards and take mild trails to go hunting and atving...never had a issue. Give them a serious look simply because you are commuting.

Just had Cooper A/T3's installed on SEMA wheels. Went with 265/70r17. Available in P or C rated. I went with the C due to potential towing small trailers and the monthly trail trip. I haven't drove with them on yet due to deployment, but my wife says they are quite and smooth on the road. NO effect to MPG's from the BFG KOs that were on it. She did have to remove the front mudflaps due to a small rub at full lock. DIscounttire.com has a good deal on them too with rebates. Hope this helps

 

I bought my truck used and it came with Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza (not to be confused with the stock H/T) They're really good tires. I'm due for a new set I would like to get another set of H/L's but i'm open to whatever.

 

If you are driving on the new tires year round and drive in snow the skinnier tire will be better.

Another suggestion for a highway tire s the cooper srx, cheaper than the ms2's but reviews seem to say these are just as good. That's what I'm getting next.
