Who reads?

One book I've always loved is "Fatal Vision", about the Jeffrey MacDonald murders in the early 70's

 

Killer Angels- by Michael Shaara about the Civil War

 

Have you guys heard of the series "Harry Potter"? It's the next big thing apparently.

 

Was that the book about a kid name Harry, who smoked so much pot he got the nickname "Potter"??

 

He also had a problem with frequenting less stellar establishments.

Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNab

Kick ass, bad ass, true story about an SAS mission in Iraq that goes south real quick. You won't put the book down. Trust me.

 

It's good to try out all kinds of stuff. I probably read 1/3 of more books than anything. My wife will read everything she starts, but if I can't get into it I just put it down.

 

The most I read is TW.
I can appreciate a good book now and again, however.

 

Agree with those who said Vonnegut... Especially Slaughterhouse Five...

Randomly picked a book out at the bookstore today that I'm going to recommend... It's short, only 151 pages... Diary of an Oxygen Thief... Author anonymous... I thoroughly enjoyed it

I read the back of a few books at the book store and the ones I was primarily into we're mystery books that dealt with America. I want something that really makes me think as I read through it. Or possibly a book dealing with the end of the world and a story of how a family or group struggles to survive?

I've only read a handful of books. Percy Jackson series is good to me, I've only read the first book. I also enjoy Gary Paulson's the Hatchet. Only read the first book in that series as well.

 

Recommend a Public Library card. Your tax $ are paying for it, why not use it?

Books are free to peruse and check out. Don't like it, take it back and get another. Dabble with various genres and authors and you'll hit on what you like.

Most local branches are linked now. You can see a composite listing of available books online, and request a certain book, even at a branch a good distance from you. They'll ship it over to your local branch and notify you when it arrives.

I haven't bought a book in years, but have over 400 kindle books in my library.

I'm old. I like books with paper pages.

Yea, got a Kindle. Works fine when traveling and need to stay compact and lightweight.

But at home on the sofa, on the dock or on the porch, it's a real book for me.

Lots of good Star Wars books out there. I've read them all! They have a timeline at th beginning o each one so try and start from th beginning.
