Then he can rebuild it and put turbos on it and sweet racing stripes and big tires.

Either I'm too damn meticulous for this project or it requires that effort. Regardless, next time I'm leaving this shit to the retired guys with more time on their hands. :anonymous:

Stripped virtually every square inch of paint off the truck beforehand which took up most of the time.

2 coats of etching primer and some seam sealer to replace any of the old glue I removed.

Wanted to get at least one coat of base on before I mount the doors and tailgate. Lightly sanded it to prep for the second coat. Wasn't sure what to do about the firewal/engine bay/radiator support, so F it... I bed lined the entire thing (drying as I write).

For reference's sake, here's what just about 2 bottles of Raptor will cover. Obviously not thick by any means, I saved them to use as an extra layer under the tintable kit.

Also... insulation/sound dampening material from raamaudio.com, a new carpet with mass backing, and new front fenders arrived in the last few days.

When you can't fund one truck and give up building it, but buy another truck and attempt to rebuild it...

I suppose I have enough to make some semblance of an update.

Finally have the short block back together. I didn't realize the thrust bearings weren't part of the package for the main bearings, so those had to be ordered and I ordered new valve springs while I was at it.

I added another coat of paint, but I was retarded and used too coarse of sandpaper prior to that.

10 hours of sanding later, I applied most of the final coat, but ran out of paint. So the painting is at a standstill until they mix up another 2 quarts for me.

Just about finished up with the modified tailgate. I pulled it from a '75 HiLux in CO.

Since it was too narrow for the '80 bed, I added material to the top and sides in addition to relocating the latches and hinges.

I also opened up the back panel and added square tubing for load support.

Still have to make the lettering white, clear coat, and spray bed liner over-the-rail.

I also cut out reliefs in the head liner support for upgrading the rear view mirror to one I pulled from a 3rd gen 4Runner.

Finally getting the POR-15 on the frame today. Who needs a big ol' diesel for towing? @Supra TT :luvya:

Which one? :anonymous: On that note, I'm beginning to think that rather than having a build thread (post-divorce, inception, etc), I should be using a more all-encompassing name that focuses on the disease, if you will.

I ordered a gallon of POR-15. Waaay too much. Just over a quart did the entire frame, gas tank skid, and axles.
