What's the purpose of your input? Why does everyone assume people are trolling? It's a legitimate complaint and there's not a darn thing wrong with wanting to VENT a little. You pay big bucks for these trucks and they should work properly without any headaches and dealership trips for repairs.

I'll agree with him.....it's a damn shame there are sooooo many complaints about the 3rd gen. It's a damn shame the tacomas can't be optioned out to complete more closely with the other trucks that do have more available advancements & creature comforts. About the only thing Toyota has going for it over the rest...is the reliability. They've been on top for so long...they've forgotten HOW they got there. I've always been a loyal Toyota buyer - but not this year. We'll see what happens in the next 3 years......For Toyota, I hope they get their asses off the couch and get things ironed out (for you guys/gals sake). For me.....I took a chance and went elsewhere. I hope this Canyon can 'impress' me - as it has some big shoes to fill (I had a 2007 tacoma for 9 years).

It`s not an assumption when some of them make it obvious for those of us that can see through their BS.

So you're here to impart wisdom or troll? Since you don't own a 2016 must be trolling...or hoping someone with a Taco can pull your Canyon out of a bind.

Here's the rumor mill on the new Ranger engines, no V6 listed:

First of all available is the 2.2L V4 engine that can produce up to 147 horsepower and torque of 275 lb-ft. the second option is 2.5L V4 that can produce up to 163 horsepower with 375 lb-ft of torque. Third option is 3.2L V5 that has strong TDCi 20 valves and is power enough to produce up to 197 horsepower with torque of 225 lb-ft. The engine offers six speed automatic or manual transmission.

First off, enjoy reading the Canyon forum where there are zero complaints about the truck and smily faces of all the people who have never had an issue. Secondly, if a person prefers a power seat over reliability, then all the more power to them, enjoy! Saying that Tacoma ONLY has reliability over the competition is simply not true, and maybe a way to justify your purchase. Search out Google and read a few of the reports on off-road capability, then come back and retract your statement.

And you couldn't be so wrong my friend.....
People on the Canyon forms complain about them just as much as people complain here. It's a forum, people vent, and good luck trying to find a truck that's perfect.

People buy things for different reasons - and off-roading is not something I took into consideration in buying this time around.

I spent 15 years off-roading. Five of those years were spent off-roading in a 96 Tacoma. I know EXACTLY how capable the Tacoma is. It's the most capable off-road midsize truck out there.

It was not a stab on the truck. It was a stab against Toyota for not making the truck more 'optionable'. If Toyota would've offered more 'Options' - I'd be driving one today.

And that's coming from someone with...387 posts? I've been around this forum for a very long time and I enjoy the people here...regardless of what truck I drive or what truck anyone drives. I come back for the people.....with whom I have a very high respect for. People and their trucks.....

People spend too much time bashing each other because their oppinions don't coiencide with their own. If everyone opened up their eyes and had a little understanding.....they might learn a little something.

That was sarcasm, of course no vehicle is perfect. Generally, there are not a lot of issues in the Gen 3 but a lot of bitching. Yes, I had the low tranny fluid (fixed by the dealer 1st time I mentioned it), it has the buzzy thing happening in the steering and pedals (my Gen 2 was similar but not as noticeable), but that's about it....oh, I had loose fender flares (fixed). There are a few other posts about other issues, but 90% of the bitches with quality are Low tranny, buzz at certain speeds, whistling from LCA, and squeaky suspension.....no big deal IMO.

Options are really subjective. Compared to my Gen 2 Limited, my Gen 3 Limited is LOADED with options. I don't care for power seats, moved mine the day it got delivered, have never moved it since. I'm not sure what other options can come in a Canyon that I can't get in the Tacoma so can't really comment. I will say this though, there isn't a single other option I can think of that I would want, but to each there own and if the Tacoma doesn't fit but the Canyon does......

I personally don't gripe too much, but I do expect certain things to be 'addressed' via the warranty. It's a lot of money to pay for a truck to have any issues!! It's a culture shock for sure!

The Canyon has this weird tranny thing also - not shifting/downshifting when its supposed to. The biggest thing I notice - if you're driving along and take your foot off the gas and coast for a bit. When you put your foot on the gas again - even a little - the thing hiccups and stutters like it doesn't know what to do. You have to step on the gas harder to 'wake it up'. That's a bit annoying. I've tried using the Manual shift mode putting it in M6 and it does the same thing. In tow/haul mode - its not as noticeable but still there. I will mention it to the dealer at the first oil change. I'll even ask them to check my tranny fluid !! Cuz, ya never know!! (I'm cross utilizing forum info LOL). A lot of the guys have gone route of ordering a Trifecta Tune. I'm not totally sure what that does - but some of them swear by it. I'm not ready to go that route yet.

Other than that.... Some of my interior panels weren't 'snapped' in place. Luckily all I had to do was press on them. The side door speaker was rattling, but again... a few smacks and pressing on it seemed to help. From what I've read - a wire loom inside wasn't properly attached and it vibrates. The Bluetooth and Carplay is nice but not nearly as user friendly as it could be. I don't think they have this fully fine tuned yet. It's quarky....Or ....It's a GM thing and I need to learn how to work it. I'm still learning....

Primarily - I wanted the power seats, black leather seats, and black interior. I bought the SLT which can be compared to Limited. The Remote Start is really nice, the Auto 4WD is something I'm curious to test in the winter. I also have Lane Departure & collision alert (probably didn't need this either but we thought it'd be a good resale adder). I can't say I notice any difference in the rear disc brakes. The truck feels much 'heavier' than my last tacoma. Had to have the heated seats (upper & lower parts of the seats are controlled individually). The rear defrost - not sure I need that. The Canyon doesn't have Homelink..... my husband already installed a modification for that. When you start the truck up - it has a pretty lame sound to it. GM could've put more testosterone in it. LOL

The G80 rear locker - well, it's NOT the same as an E-locker or ARB. The fact that GM lists it on the window stickers as "Locking Differential" is often misleading to those who don't have any clue what a REAL locker does. I have to laugh....the GM guys think its the best thing since sliced bread.

Weird things? I guess the *norm* is ...no tranny dipstick (on auto anyway). My Canyon doesn't have a Radiator cap (only the overflow reservoir tank with a cap). The torque specs for the lug nuts is 140 ft lb - I just about fainted!! Yea...I verified via owners manual..... But Wow....
