Kenwood single DIN, kind of a piece of shit but it's a few yrs old. Figuring Pioneer single will be my next one.

Rockford Fosgate 1" tweets and 6x9's with crossovers in the doors..2 MTX 12's behind me in a Mr Marv box.

Megaloud 200 watt for the front and Jensen 600 watt for the subs.

Still using that entune POS! Only use XM and Bluetooth. The XM reception blows too.

I've got a Pioneer AVH X3600BHS, I made a 12V to 6V converter and got the camera connected and also reconnected my factory XM antenna so I can at least listen when they have free weeks. The unit is a DVD player and I've bypassed it so you can watch while driving (not me, passengers!!). Reading online, a lot of people recommended a Scosche bezel, so I went that way. It was a lot better than the Metra one Crutchfield sent me. I also put in an Alpine SPR 60C component speaker set and have been very pleased with everything so far.

I liked the X3600BHS so much that I put one in my 2007 Ram 2500 and set it up the same way along with adding steering wheel controls, camera, speakers, XM, etc.

My girlfriend is one of those people who doesn't ever want to change a thing on a vehicle, if something fails, factory equipment goes back in with her and her family!

She gave me a lot of grief until I popped in some DVD for a long trip and she apologized afterward.

How much of an improvement was the pioneer head with sound? I have alpine components,5 channel, and a type r sub and it is way better than stock. Just not sure how much better they could be.

None needed. Standard install and no whining/buzzing feedback as heard from others. I had some engine noise during install, however switching from KnuKoncept to Rockford signal cables fixed it.

The Pioneer is definitely better than stock. I replaced the radio first and did speakers a week or so later when I got time. The speakers really rounded it out and were the biggest improvement. The crappy paper cone speakers just couldn't respond to bass the way the aftermarket speakers could. Same with the tweeters. With the extra power the Pioneer unit has, they wouldn't have lasted very long. On the flip side, I don't think the factory radio would have been able to power the aftermarket speakers to get the best performance out of them. If you replace the radio, you definitely want to replace the speakers.

My main reasons for replacement were not only for sound improvement, but ease of use and the extra features I got with the Pioneer. The Pioneer is a lot easier to use and seems better thought out than the factory unit. Same way on my Dodge. I'll turn off the display sometimes at night, the factory Tacoma radio can do this, but it takes a few steps to get to the screen and it wasn't very intuitive from what I remember. The Pioneer has a button on the faceplate that turns the display off, easy! The only thing I have against the Pioneer is that I can't turn off beeps when you make a change. Just a personal preference of mine, it's not annoying at all.

I've got a 2016 BRZ and the factory radio is setup very similar to the Tacoma. I've already got a single DIN Pioneer ready to go in. I got what I wanted for ease of use and to free up some space for a DIN size 3 gauge cluster to mount above the Pioneer unit. The features between this radio and the Pioneer in my Tacoma are otherwise the same.

Head unit stock going to two amps, one for subs and one for mids. I'm pretty happy with it. I just need some tweets since I never hooked the factory ones back up after installing amp and new door speakers.
