I used 1.5 x 1.5" angle, 1x1" square 1/8" wall and 1x2" square 1/8" wall... cost me around $100 for the metal new... and i have left overs :)

Ya I looked back at it after I posted and noticed the 1x1" nothing like building what you need yourself. I built one for my 98 but different design

ya thats the nice part about building the model... i basically was able to figure out exactly how much metal i needed and i believe only one thing changed(the height of the rack) from my model :muscleflexing:

You have that much gear or was it just worn springs?

A lot of gear... plus springs are stock pack with add-a-leaf. My truck was loaded down with maybe 400 lbs including tent rack and all the gear im assuming.

Few updates coming... i decided to get a Paranoid Fab under radio switch mount. This prompted me to remove and sell off my double din radio. When i removed it this is what i found... Cut Factory Harness :( I ordered a new set of factory plugs and cut/rewired in brand new plugs. Look at all the tape!!! those wires were twisted and taped :frusty: All the wires are fixed with new plugs now and Soldering inside the console was a pain but its done right now... I will get a finished picture.
    Captur2e.jpg

Scored some free cabinets on Craigslist... fit that spot nicely in the garage.
    Capture3.jpg

Got everything prewired for the switch panel... i should install it tonight.
    Capture10.jpg
    Capture8.jpg

I ordered a volt meter / usb plug to fill the holes i made where my switches used to be mounted... turned out decent for $10

    Capture6.jpg
    7.jpg

Also I relocated my washer fluid res... it sucked seeing it everyday with the tube bumper so i used what I had around the garage... a Nalgene bottle. Still looking for the spot to mount it but i will post pics of how i do it once its in...

    Capture5.jpg

Tonight or tomorrow I should post a bunch more pictures :)

Also mounted my new washer Res

    IMG_0179.jpg

I am thinking about cutting this area .... anyone ever done that? I could weld in some new caps for where the original bumper was.... i think it looks dumb how it is now
