Do you need to know, or care?
I agree, but I have a dealer that doesn't need begging. At my first check-up (1000kms/600 miles), I mentioned to my service advisor that the tranny seems to slip from R to D in the morning. I was leaving it overnight for the service cause I leave early for work and have a 2nd vehicle anyway. It gave them a chance to experience the same thing. Next day they told me it was about 1 quart low, but all topped up now. Then I notice while washing my truck that the front passenger side fender flare was pulled away about 1/8" in one spot. Dealer ordered the parts and sent it to a body shop for repair. Turned out the clips weren't tight, so didn't need parts after all.

Point of the matter is that if you can find a good dealer with service advisors who know their stuff, it's not hard to get things addressed. But if you have a dealer who just wants to push sales and doesn't give a damn after you leave, then that's a different story. You have to try convincing Toyota Corp that the dealer isn't addressing it, while they are thinking the dealer has but can't duplicate it.

Yeah, 387 at the time you looked. I didn't realize wisdom or knowledge was imparted by the number of posts someone makes. When I see someone with 14,000+ I think they don't have much of a life other than sitting at a keyboard...but that's just my opinion.

I have a combined total of 14 years of Tacoma ownership and this forum is the best forum out there!! Consider yourself lucky to be a part of it. But You? You've been here since 2011 and have under 500 posts? It's a damn shame you don't visit here often enough and haven't been able to enjoy it's benefits and comroddery. Your loss.....

I'll come back in 8 years and we'll see where your post count is - if you're still around. :)

Are you butt hurt because I don't own a Tacoma? What exactly was your point thru all this again? Are you saying I'm not allowed to be here anymore because I don't own a Tacoma?

    Good Luck with that.....:)

Gotta know just what you can get away with and what you can't. For the most part I try not to rattle in of the mods cages.

It's stuff like this that, to me anyway, shows Toyota does the bare minimum to Tacomas since they've had no competition for so long. The 4Runner, which shares a lot of platform parts, has had a transfer case with an auto mode 4WD that uses a torsion center differential since 2003. This is a very handy option for winter pavement and especially so with the stupid electronic shift they use now. With a manual transfer case it was quick to shift in and out of 4WD, no hang, no delay, and I did that all the time. The e-shift takes a few seconds to work so I tend to leave it in 4WD longer than I like and tend to push 2WD longer than I probably should on sketchy surfaces. They ought to make an automatic mode 4WD standard equipment with an electronic shift t-case, like it is (or at least was) in the 4Runner.

Bahahaha....sorry...wrong person. Actually...my blood pressure is normally very very low. I need to bring it up once in a while! LOL

Not angry at all - just defending my (and everyone's) right to own whatever truck we desire and trying to have peaceful discussions and understand both worlds. But, this is a public forum and I'd be totally amazed if someone didn't slam me ....
You'd never see me slam anyone for what they drive. Just sayin....

It's a shame..... The advancements they have in the rest of the fleet, should've been made as available options in the tacoma. Surely - would've drove the price up for a totally loaded truck - I was more than willing to pay for it.

But that would cut into what I assume are very nice margins they get with the Tacoma. It's not just the t-case, either. The frame, the seats, the drivetrain, several things on our gone (but not forgotten) 2005 SR5-level 4Runner seemed better than our Tacoma. Part of that I also think are due to it being made in Japan at Tahara, which is where the Cruisers are built and most of the Lexus vehicles. So it's not really an apples-to-apples comparison. Tahara is among the best of auto mass production, maybe the best plant of any kind making cars. Toyota used to make our Hilux/Pickups at Tahara, too, which probably had something to do with the reputation they earned with them.

I’m wondering the same thing. If it was me, it be my lawyer or trade for another make/model better looking POS, and Toyota would never see a $ from me ever again.
It’s a good thing I put reliability first, looks second.
Whining here won’t solve anything, but cutting looses and sleeping better, being happier will extend your life.
Never have yet to see the issues you mention as I approach 8k :)
    Hope that helps
