Indeed, it is back with a vengeance with only a few hundred miles on it since then. It was really pronounced when I was unhooking a trailer this morning and it would creak as I turned the crank on the trailer jack... Hopefully they will have some solution for me on Thursday...

Dropped mine this morning at dealer for Hood Flex/Vibration (adhesive coming undone), Driveline/Rear End howling noise, and the creaky squeaky leaf springs. Service Manager came out and said "let's take a drive" he wanted to hear the driveline noise... so as soon as he's climbing into the truck it lets out a loud CREAK and he looks at me funny and says "uhm, we're looking at that too, right????" I was like yeah it's on the list. So we take off and get on the freeway ramp, the rear end started to howl faintly and, while laughing, he says "Damn this thing sounds like an old Ford!" ...:annoyed:

My 2010 Tundra squeaked and my 25' Tacoma, and do does my 16 Tacoma. I figured it was the dirt/sand roads I live on.

This is what mine is doing. This morning they tore the rear differential apart on my truck and admitted there is something wrong with it although they cannot specify the issue. It should not be making that howl noise. They said it must be replaced entirely (the rear diff).

so it should all be replaced if it makes that sound? I have noticed since I bought it but first thought it was the muffler before I read about howling diffs. I know it's the differential....

Yes this is what the Service manager told me less than an hour ago. He said they are working through red tape right now with Corporate to get the work approved/authorized for complete replacement. Mine is not the first they have had this issue with at this particular dealer, they claim. They also admitted that Corporate knows of the issue with the springs but has no fix and I'll tell you now I'll be taking the truck back each and every time the rear springs start squeaking. After repair #4 , I will be pursuing lemon law and or buy back for something different.

Edit: Funny how the story changes from dealer to dealer. Previously I took it to Camelback Toyota and the clowns tried to tell me the howling was normal for the truck.

I'm pretty certain that leaf spring squeaks have been a problem since the onset of leaf springs. Doesnt matter if it's a Ford, Chevy, Toyota, whathaveyou... My Tacoma squeaks like crazy, especially because I like to use the truck in environments that likely exacerbate this problem. My solution? Fluid Film spray all over everything, and especially between the leafs at points of contact. This solves the problem until the lanolin based spray washes off or something, about every 4 months. Go get you a couple of cans of Fluid Film... you'll start wanting to you that shit in your morning coffee.

My 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with 160k miles saw worse than this brand new "TRD Off Road" Tacoma and never squeaked.

Can you characterize the howling? I may have heard this before on my truck, but paid no attention to it...

I really don't care about the squeaky leafs, but if that diff is doing something wrong when it howls, I will get that fixed.

did they say something is wrong with the diff? Is it meshing wrong, or is it going to blow up?

Visit the thread I posted above. One of the other members had their diff blow up and it had been exhibiting the same symptoms. I believe he shared his story in there too.

mine goes wooooooooooooo, quietly when I'm at low load around 55-65 mph. It doesn't happen if I cruise on a flat freeway, but happens when I click cruise control off or when I reach the bottom of a hill where it starts applying throttle before it gets flat. It's only when very low load is applied to the wheels

I couldn't hear it in your video unless the road noise was the sounds. Mine is more of a wooooooooooooooo

In the video you will start to hear it toward the last half. It is a 'wooooo' noise. Similar to the lower control arm howl but from rear end
