What height bed bars should I be looking at for mounting a RTT and still be able to strap a canoe on the actual roof rack? Looking at pictures it seems like a 4-6" rise should be low enough to clear while still giving space in the bed beneath the tent. Sound about right?

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
What's the height from the bedrails to the bottom of your RTT if you dont mind measuring?

I need some help on a roof rack or bed rack. I have a stock roof rack and I know you can't use that but I have seen Yakima cross bars on the stock one and it seems to hold find. I want bed bars not a bed rack for my tent if I go that route. My wife wants tent up high and I don't wheel that much anymore. Any help would be great.

I have mine mounted on a Frontrunner bed rack. Works well. When the tent is mounted and closed, it sits only 2" above the roof of my cab line. Still plenty of space and access to the bed. I ordered mine thru Pelfreybilt

At the moment I can't but next time I open the tent I can. Its too hot and humid here now to bother with the tent lol...

But you can not leave the bars attached because the tent wouldn't fold up properly if it were attached all the time... Bt if you climb up the ladder and look straight up dead center of the tent above the zip door to go inside youll see a gap in The outter material with a support bar running through there... You line up the clip on the bar you are holding with it and give it a good push to clip on then angle it to the right or left and slide it onto the overhang support bar and it should clip right on

Just a bunch of old crap
Not an RTT subject, but close enough. When my RTT is loaded for camping, I always have the ARB awning. Bought the tent body for the awning, but my brackets on my bed rack were still a little too low so we fabbed up some new ones yesterday and got it to the proper height to hang the awning tent perfectly. It's the new basement to my RTT instead of using an annex.

Fabbed up a 3/16" steel platform to the bed rack, mounted the ARB awning bracket to that, and then fabbed up a 7 1/2" riser plate to mount the awning to. The ARB bracket has 6" long slots in it so that I can loosen 2 bolts and slide the awning further away from the truck to get the awning body to hang vertically. Stows back in closer to the truck up against the RTT for travel.

We welded a new CB antenna mount to the rear bracket, too. You could tow an ATV from that thing.

The awning tent body has a higher side closest to the truck so that the awning slopes down and away and sheds water.

Being in AK I'm somewhat limited on selection based on getting a RTT shipped up here. I want one comfortable for two people plus a dog and prefer the styles with the ability to attach annex that encloses the ladder for extra weather protection and privacy. Any suggestions or input based on the options below is appreciated.

ARB Simpson III - $1485 shipped (with annex added, $1740 shipped)
Tepui Autana Sky - $1900 shipped
Tepui Autana ruggedized - $2200 shipped
    Tuff Stuff - $1225 shipped
Smittybilt Overlander XL - $1225 shipped (w/o annex)
    23Zero Litchfield - $1725 shipped
    Bigfoot Discovery w/ annex - $1776 shipped

I can get a Tepui Kukenam, Smittybilt Overlander and ARB Kakuda as well but they don't offer the fully annex enclosed entry I'm after. There's a dealer a 6hr drive (one way) that can order CVT tents for a $175 shipping charge but I'd prefer to not spend a full day driving to pick one up if possible.
