I've seen dyno sheets of ~300 hp 1st gens with the sc. The urd 7th and a smaller pulley adds a lot too

Yeah you're definitley not going to see 300hp with the supercharger. I have one and while it definitely wakes up the groggy but tough as nails 3.4l motor, you still aren't going to be winning many races. If you build it up though (performance headers, exhaust, 7th injector, fuel pump, etc.) it'll help. Definitley makes it more fun to drive, no doubt about that :burnrubber:

I've noticed a difference when I changed out all my fluids, slight but noticeable. When I put my cold air intake on, I was stoked, again, I wasn't burning tires but enough to pleased with a slight gain. With a s/c , 7th injector kit and water methanol injection kit (not to mention the right headers and the right exhaust I should should push close but even if I don't, it's more of a hobby that I enjoy. When I want to go fast I'll buy a Roush with a supercharger. This is just about the love for my truck.

Gain from the cai was all in ure head. Its well proven that on these trucks theres virtually no gain except a cool noise.

One thing that is needed and hasn't been mentioned is tuning. You will need to find a tuner to even get above 250 consistently. If you plan to run the water/meth full-time you're gonna blow something up fast

The 3.4 is a rock-solid engine but anything you give it will automatically be adjusted by the ECM and you will lose some off the top (one of the reasons most performance parts are worthless)

Thanks, I've heard of tuning but never that it will be adjusted by the ECM. So once tuned does it stay to where it has been tuned or does it try to correct that also?

That's not entirely true. In open loop you can tune. Like the 7th injector. My 7th still adds fuel during closed loop

how is the 7th injector controlled? Is it off the ECM or is there a separate module that URD sells? my understanding (which could be off) was that the ECM would compensate for any changes and level the system?

It's a piggyback. Seperate module that splices into the ecm

I’m right there with you! Been saving for retirement since I was 19 . Just hit 40 and would like a small midlife crisis toy
So I chose to upgrade my toy....get it

Putting on the JBA headers followed by a cat back exhaust . Supercharger to follow .

I am in the middle of the JBA header install. Requires welding but fortunately I have a friend who is a great welder .

I am not using the crappy hardware that came with the JBA headers. Using the stock studs and some new locking bolts [ not nylon ]

See my post on my install progress on what have you done to your first GEN Tacoma

Yeah, they like their back pressure. Only beneficial if your gonna boost.

I have JBA headers on my 2000 and couldn’t be happier. I installed them when I rebuilt the transmission. If you ever have the trans out, that’s the time to do headers. The performance is great on a supercharged 3.4. I had one leak from where the downpipe meets the cat, but that’s because the pipe protrudes from the flange. I cut it flush and haven’t had any problems, and that was 3 years ago. One trick I always remember with headers is to check the straightness of the flange that mates to the head. If you have any doubts, flat file it or use a belt sander

Not, my JBA headers were worth the 8 hr install and no leaks, smog legal, and been on my ride for 7 years with no issue. JBA is owned by Pertronics, I used to make SCE gaskets for em out of copper in Lancaster, CA. I blueprinted them for the heads and the JBA work great with stock gaskets and better with SCE. They are so hard to put on that human error is almost inevitable at 8 hrs hunched over and under and repeat 50 times and thats every set of headers for the 3.4 including TRD.

No engine likes back pressure. People keep confusing backpressure with exhaust gas velocity. The wider you make the pipe the less flow it’s going to have. It was probably 2.5” piping so too big for a 3.4.

I’m sticking with 2.25” exhaust even after the headers, I want as much exhaust velocity as possible. It helps with scavenging.
