It's not always only in the steering wheel it's also the gas pedal, I am one the lucky ones to have both. I would associate the feel like an electric tooth brush for my truck. In an earlier post i mentioned that I drove a truck that had no vibration at all in the steering wheel and I really tried to feel for it, but it was very noticeable in the gas pedal.

Mine was the worst in the steering wheel (and the worst on the steering wheel at 12 o'clock position); however, it was quite noticeable in both the gas pedal and the driver's side floor board, too, all in the same 2100-2400 vibe range. It was noticeable in the 3500ish range, too; however, it was rare you would ever be in that range for any amount of time where it was that bothersome in that range...only noticed it on one long uphill on US 40 where it did that to maintain speed.

Definitely some some "vibration" if you want to call it that in mine, however it's probably 10% of what an iphone gives off. My solution was to slowly but surely bring my hands down to the 8 and 4 position on long rides and it's gone! I shouldn't start throwing the words sensitive or anal around just yet...

Adjusting the steering column and holding the hands at 9ish and 3ish it was better; unfortunately, it wasn't enough. I had friends say they felt it but it didn't bother them. For me, it was not just annoying, but a safety problem. Trust me, I'm not anal about vibrations, I've owned Harley's for years....I wish I could have tolerated it as, overall, the truck was not bad at all.

Sweers mentioned 'manufacturing tolerances' being the problem with the Gen2's driveline shudder, maybe the same with the buzz since people feel it differently. I had the '05 Tundra so I was on tundrasolutions.com and the Gen2 Tundra had the same complaints about this buzz. They must have some manufacturing or engineering issues if the same buzz is across two model lines. I'm staying old school, I prefer a buzzless, shudderless, 10 yr old design for cheap.

Mine definitely isn't like riding on a cloud, but it's not to the point that things will vibrate loose like some of you guys are describing. I definitely feel a little vibration in the wheel and floorboard. I have also noticed when no one is in the passenger seat, it likes to get a little rowdy and looks like it's having a seizure.

Good news is, when it's in 4 wheel drive and I am cruising 1-3mph it all goes away and rides like a dream.

Got the official "normal vehicle characteristic" line from corporate. If anyone has any luck I'd love to hear about it. Trying to figure out the next step here.

Nah that's where it stands and probably will stand. There are claims that the magnaflow 19291 exhaust cured the issue, but it is only from a couple members. I have a Borla catback installed and it didn't make it go away. I don't think we are going to convince anyone to try new engine mounts anytime soon either.

I drove another one on the lot recently, same thing. It is widespread, whether people care or notice it or not. So if it really does cause an issue, I assume many vehicles will be affected down the line.

Best we can do at this point is call corporate and let them know that although it may be normal for the vehicle, we don't like it and don't notice similar characteristics on the Fords, Chevys and GMC's we drive.

I like a lot of the things about the truck I have and I'm thankful I have a manual transmission so I'm not stuck in that RPM range if I don't want to be. I'll keep the truck for now and see what happens down the line. With this issue and the rumbling vibration coming to a stop (both of which have been deemed "normal" and "just feeling the road") it will make me check out the new ford ranger depending on what they do with the styling.

Issues with vibrations can put a lot of wear on mechanical systems....

Well crap. I just stumbled onto this thread and thought "glad my truck doesn't do this"! Then paid attention when I drove it tonight and my OR has the vibration as well. Guess I just never paid attention to it before. Mine starts at 2000 rpm and ends by 2300 rpm. Now it bugs the crap out of me. Will be calling corporate this week as well as taking my it to the dealership.

Well, the vibe in mine has actually decreased. I mentioned in an earlier post that the vibe condition in my Tacoma is fairly low key, as in you likely wouldn't notice it unless you were looking for it or if you did notice it, you most likely wouldn't think too much of it. Last week I was driving home from work and while in a higher gear and in the 2000-2500 vibe RPM zone, it occurred to me that I no longer felt the vibe, whereas I could feel it under the same conditions in the past. After some more messing with speed, gears, & RPMs, I just could not feel the vibe. I hadn't made any changes to the truck, so this just happened on its own. It currently has about 3300 miles on the odometer.

I've also noticed that gas mileage is improving, which I'm not at all surprised to see, as I expected it to improve with more miles. When I first got it, I would get about 16.5 mpg one way on my 36 mile commute to work, now the same trip has me around 19-20. I'm sure some of this is due to the summer gasoline blend, but I don't think that explains it entirely. For the first couple thousand miles I rarely put my foot into the gas pedal and kept the RPMs on the low side as much as possible. I pretty much drove like a grandpa and still do, but lately I've been stepping on it quite a bit more and it seems like the noticeable improvements in gas mileage have coincided with that. I'm guessing that running it close to redline on a more frequent basis has helped to loosen up the engine, whereas babying it like I was didn't have the same effect.

You're getting up to speed quicker and getting full lock out of the torque converter. Grandpa-ing makes you sit in flex lock too much; saps the mpg.

Don't want to sidetrack the thread but, I don't think that is correct. I accelerate slowly and I don't think anyone has better mpg avg than me with an OR. My last tank of all in town driving yielded a 24mpg+ tank.

It's kind of an all or nothing, I think.
I think the guys having the problems are somewhere in between.

I think you may have misunderstood, as it's likely that my description of what I appear to see happening with my own truck may not have been all that clear. I still drive it like a grandpa most of the time and that's when I realize the best MPG, but the mileage improvement had been slow to materialize until I started "exercising" the RPM range more frequently and more aggressively. Mashing the peddle to the floor kills my mileage whenever I do it, but it seems like doing it more often has also helped to speed up the reduction of the overall tightness of the new motor, which has improved my overall MPG. Of course, it could just be a coincidence or it could all be in my head. Also, to provide a sort of window into my driving style nowadays, I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've engaged the ECT button, as I don't really care for how the truck drives with it engaged. I'll use it for towing, but that's about it, as to me the truck gets up and goes just fine in default mode.

Mine still has the vibration but it seems to occur more in different RPM ranges over the past few dozen km. I reached out to several media outlets via email and actually heard back from two of them who advised they would follow up with their contacts at Toyota. I called corporate back today and at least in the interim their attitude has shifted. From being told yesterday that the issue was determined to be "normal" and there was no further recourse to escalate to aside from emailing the president of Toyota Canada (which I did, turns out he is on vacation until the 11th), today I have been forwarded to another contact within the presidents office. I'm not holding my breath just yet however I will continue to ensure that I'm as big of a pain as possible until they own up and resolve this. Will keep everyone posted!

At dealer now and they confirmed the TSB but they are still working on a fix. The said it would probly be another month or 2 before the fix is out. They opened a case for me and will contact me when the fix comes out.

I truly hope they arent just feeding you BS but im not holding my breath.

This issue has popped up in other models like the 4runner i believe, see early thread posts, and they used clamp on weights with a tsb. Its not out of reach.

I've heard of a soon to be TSB for the low speed rumbling vibration, but none for the buzzing. Sure they aren't getting mixed up? Either way that is good to know at least one of the vibration issues is being worked on.
