    Wheelers does this too.

a piece of paper and tape that doesnt appear to even be on the box does not make 100% mark up ok.

USPS single rate boxes are free (That one is a small). As a business owner a few things people should understand:

    1. The postal man/lady comes by every day, so cost for taking it to the post office is a lame excuse.
    2. Cost of "packing materials" is important to cover. I generally charge a flat fee of $2, this covers the cost of my boxing and packing materials (i.e. padding, paper an tape). Anything over that would somewhat excessive.
    3. If someone wants to charge for "handling" (i.e. cost of employees moving things around a warehouse), they should call it that so people don't get their panties in a wad...just my thoughts on the whole thing.

It seems odd that you would include product markup in the shipping and handling charges given that product markup is normally included in the actual price of the product. Just an observation.

I didn't include product mark up in the shipping and handling. I was anticipating someone thinking that we should recover what it costs us to employ shipping guys and purchase shipping supplies in the mark-up on the product. Perhaps I mis-spoke. I am deeply sorry!! :crapstorm:

How much time and packing supplies does it take to pack a USPS small flat rate box?

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Only quality post in this thread.

    Even this post is bullshit.

It depends on what is in it. Did it have to be assembled? It takes longer and more supplies than anyone would like to think. There are so many costs in running a business, it's ridiculous.

i worked shipping and receiving for over a year. We never charged the customer for a box or for our time putting it together. I'd estimate that took 2-3 minutes to box....
We would ship things that took 4 hours to package up and shipping ups be 2k+..

I'll read your post listening to this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdofmoYcJNE

That feeling when a business complains they aren't charging enough for their product so they markup other stuff.

Lets remember that not all business are run the exact same way.

You can't compare a international top 500 company with a small business that caters to a very niche' market.
