Yea, even with having to have it repaired it's still cheaper than buying a new one so figured why not. It's the painting that costs more than I expected.

This has been consuming my time so far this summer, been a fun build thus far started as a base model 2007 Harley Davidson XL 1200 N - Sportster Nightster. And thus far I have gotten to this point. Lot of work left to do but between this and the Taco I am having a blast on and off the road. Figured I'd share for all the locals if ya see me out and about feel free to say whats up!

A ton, swapping the exhaust for some titanium wrapped V&H short shots my buddy has just sitting around, the FP tuner, RSD Air Cleaner, 2" Risers up front take the new handlebars up a bit higher, redo the suspension all around with progressive and that should probably do minus the customization of some other minor accesories, lights, blacking out, etc...
Its a great bike and I got it for next to nothing with very low mileage so itll be a great trade in on a new bigger bike down the road.

Everyone does short shots.. :/ but if they are just laying around. I was looking again, but I couldn't find any that suited me. If i were to do another one, id do a LAF exhaust, 10" Z bars, speedo relocation, tank lift, spring seat with solid rear struts.. Yes ive thought it through.

Id like to get a 48, but people are asking too much for them..

Yea I have the speedo relocation kit, tank lift, all that done, and agreed I want a 48 so bad almost bought a brand new one but after buying the 16' taco decided not to. plus the wife wouldve murdered me. I agree everyone does the short shots i may do something custom down the road but yea like i said they are literally sitting in his garage plus wrapped they look different than everyone elses. I have the Zombie Performance bars on my bike now the 8-bit apes and this guys bars are legit.

I was looking at iron 883s also. But seems like the prices are the same as when i got mine, but way more miles. I had mine 4 years ago. 2008 with 1200 miles for $6k.

The 883s are painfully slow IMO (and this comes from a guy driving a 4 cyl). I ended up buying a 48 after test rides but sold it after only a year. I am looking to buy another. I regret letting it go.

@fatfurious2 @FlyFishVA yea man i got a crazy deal it was done from a friend so i couldnt pass up. Ill ride this for a year and then probably move up to the lowrider S or a dyna or something softail slim who knows... so many options... the 883 if bored out to the 1250cc is actually sick it fits so well with the transmission thats on there. nobody gets a 883 and keeps it at 883 IMO. 1200 is the smallest you should buy.

I agree guys. @FlyFishVA you dont have yours anymore? The only reason id get an 883 would be to bar hop and mod. Im very happy with my FZ-09. Bought it new with 0.1 miles. Now have 8500. Paid it off too.

I change bikes often, but this one ive kept. Ive been undecided about the Harleys because i had a Nightster. The 883 is slower, and the 48 only has a smaller tank and fat front tire. I love the Harley vibe.

My other thoughts are a supermoto or a grom. But just to mess around. The FZ takes care of all my other needs.

I wouldn't mind this LS3 swapped Slingshot though

I just sold my 48 about 3 weeks ago. Between school and work I didn't have enough time to ride. I am already regretting it. But, my wife's brother has 3 motorcycles so I am still able to get my fix.

I also change bikes often. I actually just got a 97 Ninja 600 as a project bike. I am hoping to put the motor into a bobber style bike just to cruise around Leesburg in.

ETA: A "slow" bike is better than no bike. The 883 is a fine machine. I enjoyed riding it, but having ridden much more powerful bikes, I felt it left something to be desired.

image.jpg Love seeing these bikes! I need to change mine a little bit but she started out as a stock front windshield, Sattle bagged ugly 1995 Kawi Vulcan 800. So I tore her down and made this.

That would or been a cool bike. Street bike forks and tires are always nice on that style or even cafe bikes.
