Oil worker here. Gotta love how me and my day shift relieve at 415 or so, but the other crew relieves at 5, and the new guy who JUST qualified is taking my 2 days of OT I was looking forward to and he is statistically late If he's here before 5 Ill be surprised. And when he shows up after 5 I'm gonna point to the white board where I wrote down everything going on and say "There's your turnover, you're late" and leave. Tired of getting fucked on the last night shift because the oncoming crew knows you arent going to be coming in that night so you won't be late.

 

fuuuck that. dirtbags. all my coworkers rock and are on top of our shit.

 

Yeah, I'm in the super laid back department, but that means everyone is pretty lazy as fuck. Example- they just rolled out a new program that requires us to attach all the correct paperwork to any job packages we create, instead of just letting whoever gets the call to do it. I come in, dude dueces out as fast as he can, and I get a call saying he didnt attach anything but created a job package so I have to find all the attachments from a job I have a bare inkling of what he did. Sigh. Dirtbags is right.

 

Sorry bud, that's never fun. There are definitely the same kind of people in the distilling/brewing industry, I just fortunately am not currently working with one. We're pretty good at making them quit when we find out who those people are

 

Thats great! Unfortunately I'm in a union here and it basically protects all the people that would have been fired a long time ago at an at will employer. Oh well, its still a great job with good pay and benefits, so I can put up with alot of crap!

 

I do not work for the rail road, but I am a switchman on a locomotive. I work for a steel mill. On days right now as I work swing shifts. Haha not sure if I can post here while on days.

 

That's sweet are you an engineer? I've thought those switch jobs spotting cars up in industry's would be a cool gig

 

Just a technicality. It's more about attitude than actual work hours Day walkers have it all wrong. We're the ones that get it done. Middle of the night, no support, place goes to hell and we hold it together

I like it. I get to be outside a lot. It gets hot as hell in a steel mill. I can run the locomotive but that is not my normal job. Get left alone a lot more which is always the best, especially on night shift.

 

Pokemon Go will make my overnights so fun. my coworker and i are just walking around hunting
