I set mine at 1.75 with 1" block and it sits about 1/4" higher in the back. Exactly what I wanted. Went and had an alignment today and everything went perfect Ride is noticeably better

Dang it. If that's the best you can do on jet, might as well go to headstrongoffroad.com. They also have good prices.

For anyone curious about running 285s (33s) with the Billies at 1.75" it works well. For reference I have a 1" block in the rear and SumoSprings.

Fully loaded for camping with the new 285/70r17 KO2s.

Looking at the 5100's on Headstrong.

I was planning on adding a AAL to the rear, so I'm trying to decide which REAR shock to go with. They have what looks like the standard one they add to the package deal when you buy all 4. Part # 24-186728.
But if you look at the rear shocks separately, they have another option if you are doing a lift F4-BE5-B110-T5..

For you guys adding an AAL to the rear which did you go with for the shocks??

If I upgrade leafs I am thinking about going to Deavers but curious on the difference between 10 pack and the 3 leaf pack. Does one provide a better ride for rough roads? I'm guessing the 10 leaf is probably stiffer but would hold up better when towing. Not sure though. Are there any parts dealers competent enough to explain the handling and performance difference between these two options on the TRD OR Tacoma?

If you take a look at Wheelers page on suspensions (rear springs)- they do a great job of describing what set-ups will reduce load bearing capacity and what will increase capacity (Deavers included).

For example on the Deaver 10 leaf pack it says-

For my application hunting and driving a lot of un-maintained ranch roads and desert and forest roads with washboard and potholes, I rarely tow a 2500lb camper BUT more often than that I may have 200 to 300lbs of gear in the back. I think the 10 pack Deaver would be too soft. Probably would have to go with something like the Wheelers 8 leaf pack (but that looks to add about 1.75 inch of rear lift) Don't really want to lift truck more than 1.5" if I don't have to but I guess 1.75" I can live with. Sounds like Bilstein 5100's in front and rear would be marginal improvement over the stock TRD OR shocks and maybe not worth the investment but would be a necessary purchase to keep the front end somewhat level. Not in a position to drop the coin on an Icon lift right now but that would probably offer a more noticeable improvement in off road performance.

Thanks! Proper alignment done after 5100s were bumped up to 1.75" otherwise nothing else. My cam bolts are maxed out to bring the camber back into spec. I couldn't go any heigher without aftermarket UCAs.

No wheel spacers needed with the TRD wheels as they sit out a bit further than the stock wheels. Plenty of clearance between the Upper Ball Joint and the sidewall.

We ran a decently tough trail this past weekend with no sway bar up front and I'm only getting a slight rub at full lock in reverse or when the suspension is articulated. No rubbing on the street.

I'm also trying to figure out how much more I'll need for extra weight. I've got a shell, and am planning on bumpers/winch/etc.

If I go this route, maybe OME 887 or 888, and a decent AAL? Hoping to get it all done at once later this year.

This may help you decide which coil to get for your setup. It's from Headstrong's website when you click on the OME coils.image.jpg

Try the wheelers 5 pack. I had it on my second generation and liked it. Should be 1.5 inch lift or so.

Is this their estimated lift for a 2nd or 3rd gen?

Sounds like you and I have similar uses / pursuits. I hunt and travel a lot of rough roads all the time, haul gear a lot (involved in Scouting) and other stuff. In addition I do tow a bit, but usually not more than 3,000lbs. If I do find a need to lift my truck I want to go as low as possible and preferably stick with a 32"-ish tire.

For now I'm going to see how 265/70/17's on TRD pro wheels do, then kinda go from there. Personally I'd like to see what develops over the next year, like the 6112 shocks for 3rd gen- see some reviews and so forth. I'll be interested to see which direction you take..
