URD 2.85 stealth supercharger pulley install

You are always "in the boost" with a supercharger. It's not like you have to wait for it to spool up like a turbo

 

No. The TRD/Magnuson supercharger has a bypass valve that allows the engine to operate not in boost, which is why the 2nd gen supercharger has such minimal effect on mpgs. When cruising or not operating under load the bypass opens and you are not in boost.

But just remember the skinny pedal sees the floor a lot!Yes you will get better mileage.If the skinny pedal isn't at the floor.

 

@SCSPerformance Having a little mod day on Friday to install @DannyBFresco 's UCAs if you wanna come by and do your pulley. Will also be working on the truck on Saturday so plenty of time then. The install will take maybe all of an hour tops if I know you're coming.

Just curious.....what all are you doing to it?

 

Unbolting everything off of the rear axle, propping the bed up and painting everything(frame, new crossmembers, everything on the axle, assorted suspension pieces) reinstalling everything and adding loctite to every bolt and doing a full torque. Then checking torque on everything on the front end and adding loctite to all nuts as well. Then the following weekend we're off to Pismo for shenanigans.

is there any mpg drop after the pulley install?

 

I haven't noticed any. You really don't hit the peak boost numbers that often. It won't really change your boost at partial throttle or during normal driving conditions

 

Relatively insignificant. It will allow you to run higher boost, so it is possible to burn more fuel than pre-pulley. But it will only have a negative effect when you are running higher boost than the standard pulley, which when compared to the overall drive cycle over the course of a tank is quite small.

 

So that red pully there are the one ya'll are talking about?
