Back when I had my Evo, we would organize monthly meets at a drink place, fast food place, etc. Everyone would be instructed that they must buy something from the establishment, even if it was a $1 drink. They had to contribute to the company. Before the event, we would notify the local police agency advising them that we would be in the area, contributing to the establishment we were meeting at and everyone has been instructed that any immature, dangerous, illegal behavior will not be tolerated.

We put on these meets in Orange County for roughly 2 years without incident. Even had some of the local agencies stop by just to check up on us and they would stop and chat for a bit.

As long as you dont break the law, contribute to the establishment you are meeting at, law enforcement will leave you alone.

We would have someone at each meet however who was just a driver by and stop and start to do burnouts, revving, etc. and we would promptly inform them if they did not stop we would call the cops on them. We would usually get cussed out and they would speed off.

Local agencies just like the courtesy to know whats going on.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

The problems start when you pick one place every week/month to meet up. Thats when the ricers and other drivers start to notice the weekly/monthly meetup and they want to bring their "crew" to be cool. If you keep the location moving each week/month, you keep the local knuckleheads out and you get to keep your meets going. Some months, we would have over 50 Evos show up. All friends and we all wanted to just hang out. Keep it cool guys and you wont have a problem. Remember a lot of LEO have sports cars, off road trucks, show vehicles too.

Exactly. I've heard if you keep it low and fun they'll even come through on their off days and show off their rides.

Exactly. The TW meets I've been to in Oklahoma, Texas; and even here in SoCal, never once have experienced that kind of stupid behavior doing donuts, drag race or stupid shenanigans like that at all.
We meet for trail rides, talk about trucks, share what kinda mods we've done or plan on doing, and talk even more about trucks!
TW peeps are friendly, and respectful.

It's one thing I always have to tell people I know about the TW meets I've gone too. We don't act recklessly ever.

But condolences go to that young man's family in the article.
    Be safe out there folks!

Has it happened? I'm hoping our scene doesn't get like the rice rocket scene. That's one of the reasons I got out of the low low import scene.

Spotted at the movie theater in La Cañada around 6:30 tonight. I went to take my kids to a movie that I thought was about tires. Turned out to be about a Big Friendly Giant. =P 20160705_181825.jpg

I use APRS, so my beacon may occasionally come up on 144.390
Otherwise I monitor the Win System via local repeater 448.060, and use 152.525 for local simplex.

I just wish I had time to pull my rear skid so I can re-bend it and get rid of that gawd-awful racket that is my exhaust rubbing. Damn Metal Masher trail in Moab did an absolute killing on all my armor......and busted my rear diff gasket.
