Yeah, it depends on how big a load you'll carry. I had 12# including water in mine, plus a large Smart Water bottle on the front in a bottle holder sling, so maybe 13#. I will also be carrying a DSLR normally but didn't on my training hike. The Stratos was comfortable with that weight of course, but is rated up to 24lbs. The rear AirSpeed back panel is also really comfy and good for preventing sweaty back!

Day packs with hip belts alleviate a lot of the shoulder harness issues too.

Did a nice overnight to San Bernardino peak and camped at Limber Pine bench over the July 4th weekend.

Didnt get a chance to try out the Gossamer gear gorilla... it doesn't fit a 2 person tent and bear canister for two that well :(

Will be loading it up for a hike this weekend to Mt. Wilson.

Unless maybe you're carrying a BV450, a 40L pack won't fit ANY bear can. If you like GG, try the Mariposa.

Yup, I carried the larger backpacker bear cache bear canister this weekend to practice with a fully loaded canister for two people.

I also have the BV450 for solo trips, but that barely fits lol. Will make do.

Lived in Asheville for the past three years and became addicted to the out doors! Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to do anything more than day hikes but I just started collecting gear. My first purchase right here!(Big Agnes Rattlesnake SL2 w/mountain glow) I'm hoping to do the Art Loeb trail come fall!

For the solo back country explorer I might recommend the Hilleberg Akhto for any climate or a Clarks Jungle Hammock.. Both have treated me well in nice and not so nice conditions

I plan on it! I work on ships so I'm lucky if when I'm home they're running one. Unless they have them online?

Headed to Iceland in 4 weeks! Camping the whole trip I think. Going to do the Ring Road trip for 11 nights 12 days. Haven't finished planing yet but for sure going dirtbag style since I'll be solo.

I'm pretty excited! I work in the travel industry and I am lucky enough to take an international trip once a Quarter so my Q3 trip is Iceland. Q1 was Costa Rica and Q2 was Maldives. A girl I was dating earlier in the year did this trip and her pictures were amazing.

Aren't the Maldives something like an 18 hour flight time?
